Speaking of not a fan - anyone else here not impressed by Q Byfield AT ALL? This kid was so invisible last year he basically played himself off the team by the final. Granted, we're only 2 games in but I'm seeing more of the same. I don't mean this because he didn't score in a 16 goal game. To me this kid screams "my success is due to my size". The second he's faced better competition he disappears. He definitely has skill and speed but you have to imagine things must have come easy to a 6'4 215lbs kid. Apparently he started out slow at camp because he wasn't "up to speed" and "has some habits that need to change" when it comes to puck management.

He has been a big disappointment the last 2 WJC's.
Not sure he got on the ice in the 3rd today.

Over the top of the playoff bar. They aren't even close.
- Load Management

As I followed up I don't think they are close to that bar either having to beat 3 teams ahead of them. But that doesn't take away from what they are doing. They are trying to be competitive and help their young talent learn to compete not tank.

Well can't complain about running up the score today. Didn't the Germans have 8 regulars out?

So Tampa just bought 7.6Mil in IR space
and
Offloaded 3 mil in two mediocre players for a 2nd round pick......

They are buying expiring contracts. None of the guys they traded for are going to be around in Ottawa for longer than a year. Really not that helpful for the kids to have to play with vets just waiting to leave town.

His competition hasn't changed in size. It's still the same age and sized kids he's facing in junior.

Don't agree at all. Those vets are going to be pushing for their next contract they want to do well. The young talent will have a year of learning to compete not surrender to defeat.

Yeah, so they can get the fuck out of Ottawa. That will build good team culture.

They move on that is fine it doesn't put down team culture as its part of being a pro in NHL. What you think the young talent will will have a better culture learning how to suck and tank?

No, not even close to what I'm trying to say. I've already made my points. I'll leave it here.

Such a thing as too big. He doesn’t impress me in the slightest. Said yesterday LAK blew it passing on a few I liked more. Shoulda traded down.

I think I made it clear saying he’s had success due to his size at the junior level but the minute he faces elite competition at the world stage he disappears. Huge difference between OHL and WJs/IIHF - didn’t think I had to point that out.

Other than arguing semantics do you have a opinion?

Aren't you the guy who talked about Casey Mittlestadt all season during his draft year.😁
