#Sens have acquired Derek Stepan from #Coyotes in exchange for a 2021 2nd round pick (previously from #CBJ). - VANTEL
All of a Sudden Sens piled up a bunch of vets to go with all the young talent. Are they making a push to be competitive in this North Division and steal a play-off birth?
That's not what was posted. It just helps a rookie D acclimate to NHL having capable vet partner. Your version would have 2 rookie D playing together.
The other RSD will get their play time for sure in on all these back to backs and multiple games in a week season. Chatfield you keep as extra on roster and Rafferty can be taxied in. Benn taxied too with no issues if he gets picked up on waivers.
Having Hammonic can also help a raw rookie like Rathbone when he gets his shot to play as well. - NuckUp
A black hole on offence. Declining play. Not durable. Kids need experience. If say Myers is injured Hamonic sucks in the top 4 & the kids are not prepared to be ready. Backing up their NHL development isn’t my choice. For the last time IMO it’s time to play the kids. You have your opinion & that is mine. I don’t want Hamonic. If JB signs him then fine.
Ottawa helping Coyotes out and giving up assets - VANTEL
It’s a good deal for a young Sens team, the 2nd is from the Blue Jackets so not the Senators pick. Ottawa had three picks in the 2021 second round, they now still have two. Plus the below....
“Stepan has one year at $6.5 million left on his contract, but TSN Senior Hockey Reporter Frank Seravalli reported the bulk of his money was paid in a signing bonus, leaving only $2 million in salary for the final year of his contract.”
A good move on the Sens part. Need a C for young wingers. The price idk but sure why not. Canmot have Logan Brown & Chris Tierney their 1-2 punch. - Nighthawk
Seems a little funny . Benning gives up a pick 20 spots higher for four years of Miller at a million dollars cheaper to surround Petey with experience and it did not go over well with half the fan base. Another team does it and it is a good move.

Anyways have a good night - VANTEL
Yes go figure. Fans look for a negative is their problem. A poor outlook imo. I liked the trade but cannot claim I thought it would be such a great trade.

Derek Stepan isn't better than either of them.
Dorion has said he thinks his team is ready to compete. Should trade them Virtanen for their unprotected first.
