Could’ve drafted one of the better young power forwards in the game in Matthew Tkachuk, but no, we had to draft Olli Juolevi - LeftCoaster

Yeah MK has turned into quite the player.
JP has had one of the best world juniors in the past 15 years. What has he done so far in the NHL?
Guilty as charged I wanted OJ at 5 that year. He was very good at the WJ's too. - manvanfan
Didn’t know much about OJ wanted Sergachev or a trade down which most here couldn’t understand. Something about a higher number is always best. |

Had Sergachev too then OJ never Turdchuk; that turd is a cancer to team play.
Trade downs though seldom ever work out vs getting BPA. You only do it when the selections suck and you want to gamble on volume. |

McAvoy a RHD was also available later. Not every draft BPA works out. |

But if they listened to me they would have Fabbro or Chychrun in the lineup and Hague and Korczak in the pool.
Although they wouldn't have Juolevi, Lind or Hoglander, nor would they have Petterson or Hughes, they would have Glass and Dobson. Lol |

Figured that's where he would end up with Tarasenko still on the shelf. Surprised just on a PTO though. |

The Blues are still over the cap and haven't signed Dunn yet either. Not sure how they will make it work. Plus Hoffman could still sign with someone else, offering a better contract, then whatever discount the Blues might come up with later. |

Obviously conjecture, but Blues can bring Dunn into camp on a PTO as well. Then to start the season, send down Robert Thomas, and waive/send down MacEachern. Get's them under the salary cap with a 20 man roster. Then they can put Steen and Tarasenko on LTIR in season, giving them 13.25m in cap space to recall Thomas & MacEachern then sign Dunn and Hoffman. Keep Dunn + Hoffman under 6m, and they can activate Tarasenko later in the year by waiving and sending down Clifford & MacEachern, in the unlikely case they don't have other injuries by then. |

Pierre LeBrun
@PierreVLeBrun
All things being equal, there’s a one-year contract coming for Hoffman closer to opening night once the Blues can use LTIR.
-----------
As was said LTIR can only be used during the off season under a doctors note. So Steen retiring can't go on till season starts. No word whether or not Tarasenko is actually going to be on LTIR. |

69.1m after LTIR for Tarasenko & Steen.
Where is the problem? |

Darren Dreger
@DarrenDreger
Putting players on LTI during the off-season is different then start of the season. This maximizes the Blues LTI space, but they still have to deal with Dunn. Gotta believe Hoffman agreement is done and this pure cap management. |
