Best spicy mustards in the US, which are never as good as the Asian ones, are all from Brooklyn.
Here is one that goes well with pastrami.

Do you have a poll to link to on that or perhaps a pew study to tell us what we should think is the best spicy mustard in the US? How do other countries view mustard made in the US? How has global warming affected the US mustard market?

Thanks for the tip. I'm in my 50s. I try not to eat much fatty red meat these days, but I'd make an exception for a great hot pastrami sandwich. Real kosher deli food is so good...it's all fat and salt. My favorite food groups. Side order of kishke? Liver knish?Pickles? Wash it all down with a Dr. Browns Cel-ray soda! - Dkos
Be warned: Its not as good as Katz's, frankly. You go there partly for the old world ambience.
Nowadays, pastrami sandwich and the like has become pretty hipsterized. You get decent overpriced ones in many places downtown which are pretty good (off the top of my head: Rooster, Market at High Street), but I miss the deli culture man. I miss taking a walk at 3 AM and hopping into those all night diners in the city. Smoking at the bar in Little Pete's. Ordering fried chicken liver at the Midtown diner after the bars closed. The diner at 42 and Chestnut that had the metallc exterior was notorious. Once this dude shot the waitress there because he did not like the burger.

Do they still slice meat and pass it down to those waiting in line with the extra milkshakes? - Bayareaflyer
Ha ha. I dunno if they do. Sometimes I stood in that line for well over an hour.
But lots of places do that. The DiBrunos in the Italian market still does that.
EDIT: Claudio's too. |

Stay away from that junk. Stick with Black Rifle Coffee Company "Freedom Fuel" which is fantastic and rich.

I can't afford that 'junk' so its moot.
But I know my coffee. Dark roasts like the one you mention are best saved for French Press. |

Well, there are those of the high minded intellectual class that believe hot mustard is actually contributing to global warming. There were some academic papers written that suggested this correlation was not true, but they've been shut down and shut up by the higher minded "scientists" who know the real truth. Hot mustard is a contributing factor to global warming. The science is settled! |

What I marvel about with guys like you ...is not the display of silly stupidity, or the barely submerged insecurity, or the resentment masquerading as satire.
It is the fact that today, it is easier than ever in the history of mankind to get a top notch education about the issues. If you audit, its free, and you don't have to go anywhere.

I don't know if it can get any worse. First the sport of hockey is declining due to global warming due to people not being able to play pond hockey, according to PT21 and now this. |

The team formerly known as the Redskins just released Dwayne Haskins after going to a strip club following a loss. Just 2 seasons after being a top pick...regardless of whatever comes of the Eagles Qb situation, it’s far better than that continual mess in DC. |

Stripped of his job because of going to strippers? I guess the team thought it should have been un-bare-able. |

Hot mustard is an environmentally insidious substance threatening the planet's very existence, let alone destroying pond hockey. The "science" is settled. |

Gamiel's in Wilm, DE had an unbelievable Rueben, find best reasonably priced cup is from: la Colombe, part of the high point of trips to Philly, walk off the Sonny's cheesesteak and grab a cup. |

Agreed on the la Colombe. I have a couple of pounds of beans at home and grind it fresh when I want it. I live in northern Chester and it's impossible to find good deli out here. Love a good Rueben when I can get it and happy to try Gamiel's next trip through Wilmington. Thanks for the tip. |

Hershels in Reading Terminal makes the best Reuben I have had in Philly. That would also probably be my recommendation for the Pastrami on Rye experience.
Re: Le Colombe - they are well known, but have since been overtaken (in price, quality, wait-time), by many small cafe/roasters that is part of the 4th wave. The baristas/owners in many of these places know much more than the Le Colombe folks do and take a lot more care in their preparations.
In no particular order: Elixir Coffee, Ultimo (20th Street location is just 2 blocks away from the original Le Colombe) ), Menagerie, Rival Brothers, Ox Coffee and Function Labs are all scattered around Center Cityish, and all prepare/sell better coffee than Le Colombe.
The last (Function Labs) is the retail arm for Vibrant Coffee Roasters ( https://www.vibrantcoffeeroasters.com/) which , afaik, is the only roasters in PA that win national awards for their coffees and they are reasonably priced. We are sadly off the national coffee map here in Philly as far as recognition goes.
Some of the most sophisticated coffee and equipment is produced in Taiwan nowadays, and Ray's Cafe in Chinatown is a local treasure for decades. https://www.rayscafephilly.com/
Finally, for storing 2 lbs of coffee beans (if you are not doing this already) you should be using coffee-canisters with 1 way valves or vacuum sealing and freezing your beans. Coffee oxidizes quickly and is a temperamental bean.

I don't drink much tea, but here is a couple:
Black: Darjeeling Makaibari (online many places) or "House of Tea" in Philly is the best I know.
Chai: Vadham's Masala Chai is all the rage nowadays. Available from many places online.
That's all I got. |

Hold your hosses on Hurts. How's your boy Travis doing nowadays? Hard to keep it up once there is some tape on you, huh? Hurts' 2nd half qb rating is 57. |
