The Pods and Hogs thing has been funny to read on here however. The 'top 6' camp and the 'middle 6' camp and the 'bottom 6 camp' and the 'AHL camp lol
To say the least it will be interesting to see where they end up when all is said and done. - LordHumungous

Thanks Carol.
Podkolzin passed the puck to whatever D was on the blue line before guy pulled his best Edler and went straight for the shin pads to which Czech's then scored their 2nd goal of the game shortly after.
I can see the Loui like start happening for Podkolzin already in Van. |

For me personally, I'm not expecting dominance. Just more presence on the ice. It's his 3rd tourney, he's 19, he has a leadership role on a top tier team. He's been invisible so far aside from drawing 1 penalty. - Load Management
There have been plays.
The fact that he is probably the best player on the team kind of says it's a weak Russian roster.
His Centre has 1 point in 11 KHL games this year. That's worse than him and most think he's not doing very well. |

I think Hoglander is still wait and see.
I don't have any doubts about Pod and still think he will immediately move onto Bo's line within two weeks.
The Russian team does not look sharp at all but they do have a few NHL players. - VANTEL
There's also Jayce Hawryluk, who's going to get a good look.

Yup .
I am hoping they both crack the roster . Will know in 3 weeks . Both second round draft picks. |

Key players caught talking smack about the team's coaching staff, systems, special teams, and practice structure doesn’t portray a franchise that has an exceptional development system worthy of anyone’s attention (at least at the NHL level).
I would say the Canucks also do a fine job of turning late picks into NHL players but I wouldn’t celebrate it too much because of other major concerns about the franchise. - bloatedmosquito
Please enlighten, which late picks have the Canucks developed into NHL players.
Serious question. |

Olympian Frank Corrado. In fact we developed him so good he got scooped up.

not sure why you didn’t include Andrea Boudriaue as well. My bad I thought there was some actual bite to this statement. |

Is it me or did Dorian waste his money and cap space on guys who had little impact on their previous teams?
Thanks Carol, always appreciate your insight but not the least bit worried. It’s a young man’s game and this year will show that even more so with the short time to get game ready. |

Not a late draft pick but there was this undrafted guy who the Canucks signed. They developed him pretty good and got some pretty good years out of him. They developed him so well that another team overpaid him for a deal going into the backside of his career.

I don't think he's been the best player, weak roster or not. He needs to be a lot better given his role. |

I don’t know if I have ever seen a Russian team give 100% during the qualifying round. Not sure it will be enough but they will crank the effort level up during the elimination round.
Podz is just feeding the team whiner narrative so that he can snatch their joy from them when the games matter 😂😉#likestealingcandyfromababy |

Can someone please give me an honest take on Chatfield? I don't want to be a jerk about him but I don't see anything real he's got the feel of a career minor leaguer. He's had a few call ups and no game action seems odd to me. From what I have read he's like a Stecher lite, I think there are better skill options in Rathbone, Rafferty(who I am not sure is ready yet)Sautner and even Brisbois. |

I have never read that he is Stecher lite but I would compare him to Stecher .
I seen him play quite a bit last year and he has good and bad. He has a muffin shot like Stech. He is a smart player like Stech and he is much faster than Stech. Their puck battle is pretty similar. I can see why Benning likes him but he is a #6 guy like Stech. |

In a vacuum yes, but when you add it to the list of questionable signing it adds up.
Having a $12M+ fourth line isn’t smart management in my opinion. - bloatedmosquito

Gotta admit with all of the hype going into the WJC, and me not seeing too much of his game to this point, Podkolzin has been a disappointment. I keep waiting for him to find another gear and elevate his game. Take over a period or 2. He seems pretty passive so far. - Load Management
My take is Russia is overrated & at C are not very good. Overall the WJC’s hasn’t been impressive. Chalk it up to rust mostly. |

This. It’s more than likely that most of the prospects that are discussed on here will fall victim to the numbers game. - bloatedmosquito
Happens to many players league wide. Usually opportunity doesn’t arise nor teams take a chance. Too many aging vets are signed with the thinking being they are glue role players. Bottom feeders give prospects more chances or teams not deep the same. Comes down to we’ve too many vets in the way who don’t produce. If they cannot be PK specialists & make us top 10 then move on. Next season is when I expect real changes in the bottom 6 or sooner if kids get to play this year & shiw they are ready. Going to happen on D one way or another if we hold tight on UFA’s. |

Why was he expected to dominate?
This is just my opinion but I said before the tournament he is strong on the puck , wins battles on the boards, can make good passes and will probably score 5-8 goals in a NHL season.
I have never felt he would dominate. I think he is good in his own end , will play mostly in the opposite end of the ice.
He is very much like Loui who Travis slotted in with Bo and Pearson more than anyone last year. Loui had 6 goals in 49 games last year and 4 of them were in the empty net. It was a very effective line.
It is not Podkolzin's style to dominate, but he is very effective at getting you the puck. - VANTEL
Hard for a winger to if D don’t move the puck well & C’s are invisible. Like I said Russia is overrated & is more the problem. |

You can thank Twitter Canucks and the media for that. People in here pump Pod & Hogs tires non stop. At the end of the day they're still unproven NHL prospects. - VanHockeyGuy
We won’t know what we have in them til they have talent to play with. Not saying they will dominate but not held back is more like it. |
