Can someone please give me an honest take on Chatfield? I don't want to be a jerk about him but I don't see anything real he's got the feel of a career minor leaguer. He's had a few call ups and no game action seems odd to me. From what I have read he's like a Stecher lite, I think there are better skill options in Rathbone, Rafferty(who I am not sure is ready yet)Sautner and even Brisbois. - Nucknab23
Defensive D with an edge to his game. Hardly a Stecher lite more like depth RHD 3rd pairing. Plays a smart conservative game. Opportunity to play in the NHL is a huge hurdle for him. Not sexy means likely a ceiling of a role depth D man. Safe call up in a normal season is my take. |

I guess there were no scores driven up today? - A_SteamingLombardi
Pretty bush-league move by Team Canada and the coach to run up that score. Karma can be funny lol...
Embarrassing a team when they are already down sure is admirable. |

Put Pod on Canada with 20 1st rounders & see how he would do.
What does Russia have 5 of them?
1 is in goal. Sweden looks better than Russia. |

He only had 8 minor penalties last year so not really playing with an edge. He is also not conservative at all. He has very good speed and takes chances . When he gets caught in the other end his speed helps him to get back into the play. He has 0 goals in the last two years . He is a good puck mover but is not noted for scoring skills . He is good on the PK. He has a legit chance to make the 6/7 spot. He wont dazzle you at all.

My guess is he wouldnt get much ice time surrounded by 20 Canadian 1st rounders. He would be pushed down the depth in the line up. He would get increased ice time during a lead probably with his pressure style game play. |

Russia forever demonstrates they rather not out work or be aggressive. Small ice challenges & soft play in their development has always been my focus. The KHL imo is the epitome of Russian hockey. If they cannot wheel around they look sad. They either produce some elite talent or more often disappointments. Those that go to NA earlier tend to excel. |

On pure registration numbers in Canada competition is better. It doesn't translate into the NHL’s best players proportionally.
With 20 1sts Canada should dominate in every way & blow out everyone. They don’t. Gems or diamonds in the rough on other countries rosters always fall come draft time. More busts are drafted Canadians. |

If they cannot win gold without him it isn’t cuz he’s injured. Hurts the Hawks huge. |

Is this by the sheer numbers of Canadians drafted, by a percentage or just Nighthawk rambling? |

Naw man, here's the inverse, look at Stutzle. Kid stands out every time he's on the ice. Even in the Canada game. His entire team was pooched and he still looked like a man among boys. That's leadership and presence.
Pods shouldn't need as much support as you suggest to make a statement in this tournament. If his team is so bad, he should be that much more noticeable. He isn't. |

Rangers are laughing big time. Don't expect anymore high profile Canadians to be lent out to the WJC going forward especially in the flat cap NHL. |

Please enlighten, which late picks have the Canucks developed into NHL players.
Serious question. - K-man25
It’s not a serious question because you are a troll. Not a particularly good one, but a troll none the less. But to amuse you here’s a few:
Kevin Bieksa (5th round)
Matt Cooke (6th round)
Jannik Hansen (9th round)
Brent Sopel (6th round)
Scott Walker (5th round)
Doug Lidster (7th round)
Patrik Sundstrom (9th round)
Adrian Aucoin (5th round)
Igor Larionov (11th round)
Chris Tanev (undrafted)
Alex Burrows (undrafted)
Donald Brashear (undrafted)
Rick Rypien (undrafted)
And...
Pavel Bure (6th round) |

Podz is not as good as Stuzle and plays a support type game. So Podz only stands out on a poop team/line if he pulls off a solo bull run. |

I was listening to TSN earlier when I drove the wife and they had an old interview with Gillis when the Sedins retired week.
He talked about he had made a trade with Kesler (and Kesler confirmed that week that he was traded) . He refused to give the names involved but both confirmed the trade happened but got cancelled. Does anyone know who the players involved were? |
