That could be an option worth exploring. I'm all for Hagel taking Carpenter's spot on the 4th line. Carpenter can be the 13th forward.

If Carpenter is on the taxi squad, it may make it tougher to regain optimal value with a TDL deal. Then again, it may just be the difference between a 4th rounder or 5th rounder, etc.

Maybe there's a shot I'll get to see my 4th line of Entwhistle, Hagel and Highmore with all the injuries before the season is up.

I know, I shouldn't be looking at a 4th line, but I like watching guys who bust their butt, hustle, and play like its their last shift they'll ever play.

I mentioned on Twitter that Stan should give Chevy a call.

Roslovic is a righty too and could be a great pivot for Kane. He has a lot of untapped offsensive potential that he hasn’t been able to exploit thanks to being in Paul Maurice’s doghouse for the last couple of years.

- Tyler Cameron

As long as its not an over payment I’m on board with acquiring Roslovic.

How much longer until Kane and Keith request to be traded?

Blowman will make everything ok.

- bigfly46

Why would Kane and Keith request a trade? You’re really taking away their credibility as professionals.

I know there is a lot of speculation out there but sounds like it’s something specific based on Sopel’s tweet to the Captain.

Whatever is going on, let’s hope Toews gets better as a human being. More to life than hockey.

- Tyler Cameron

Agreed, the #1 priority is Toews’ long term health, he’s given more than enough to this franchise.

The Jets seem to be in a dilemma with Jack Roslovic and he'll miss the start of camp as he's still without a contract.

It's rumoured that the Jets want a top 4 d-man but I think that's a steep ask. I'd be willing to part with de Haan, Carlsson or Beaudin but I doubt that would be enough from Winnipeg's perspective.

No way I am trading our dmen prospects now. Where we finish if we had Roslovic is irrelevant since almost assuredly still miss playoffs. Meanwhile we have the making of a solid defense for years with strong likelihood most of the prospects will turn out at worse as average NHL defenders. I see a talented puck moving three pairs as the strength of the team. I realize the future is difficult to fathom, to project. After next season we could be on the cusp of most of these prospects playing or have a taste of NHL.

Carlsson is going to provide hits or checks and is the only one beside Zadorov to count on for the physical element. That is so because I believe Murphy will be traded. And Seabrook is merely third pair or depth if you are looking for other dmen who will hit

It should be a cardinal rule not to trade promising prospects before they show in NHL how good they could be. Trade deHahn or Murphy for any warm body centericeman. We have to decide between Murphy and Carlsson to protect for The Expansion Draft. Murphy brings more in return.

FWIW, Zawaski said on his Hawks podcast today that two sources from team confirmed that Toews’ illness is not life-threatening.

I choose to believe this little bit of rumored good news.

My money would be on Kane. Can't see Colliton considering Keith as captain.

I'm not a fan of team's not having a captain and just rolling with 4-6 alternates.

I can’t see any of the Core vets agreeing to wear it as long as there is a possibility of Toews returning.

I could see that 4th line of Entwistle, Highmore, and Hagel having a go by the latter part of the season. If anything, that should be a consideration for next season but could also see Hagel earning his way to middle 6 duty.

A 4th line of Kampf or Wallmark centering Entwistle and Hagel would be killer, too. Or even another rookie in Soderlund, Johnson, or Barratt as dark horses.

As for cheering on the 4th line, the bottom 6 could end up being the most effective lines for the Hawks all season. Knowing Colliton, he will reward them with more responsibility if they excel.

No one will be wearing the C unless their name is Jonathan Toews. It’s not customary to give the captaincy to another player, even if Toews was out for the year.

My guess is the “A”s will be:

Keith
Seabrook
Kane

And when Seabrook is out of the lineup, that’s where it’ll get interesting; my guess is next in line will be Shaw, Murphy, and possibly even DeBrincat. The Cat is taken on a leadership role at a young age with Boqvist living with him. Dach may be living there as well.

Yeah, Toews would have to be ruled out for the entire season for the C to be given to someone else. As Tyler mentioned, it's not customary either way.

Roslovic's agent is Claude Lemieux. Does Lemieux represent players just like he played the game? If so, negotations could get ugly.

Woof. This is getting ugly before it begins eh, Theo?

My vote would be to spread it out a little and have Strome and DeBrincat together and then Kane carrying his own line.

Maybe something like:

Kubalik-Soderberg-Kane
DeBrincat-Strome-Janmark
Suter-Wallmark-Shaw
Carpenter/Hagel-Kampf-Highmore

I also wouldn’t be opposed to seeing what Kurashev looks like with Kane.

That’s my 0.02 and I, of course, reserve the right to change up those lines at any time. Ha.

- Tyler Cameron

Nobody has said it and he's considerably older now, but around 2012 when Toews had concussion issues and was out over 20 games, Kane played center and carried the team into the playoffs. I'm not saying they would be playoff material just stating the option.

Can Bowman just fire himself already? This guy is a joke. He is not a hockey guy. His daddy got him his job. He gets ripped off on the majority of his trades. He signs guys to unnecessary high paid, long term, no movement contracts. His selection of a new coach is suspect to say the least, The draft picks are due to the scouts not him. And now he sends their biggest asset to play in a junior tournament where the risk well out-weighed the reward. Great job Stan. Once again the paying customers get ripped off due to his stupid decision making. Happy 2021 Hawk fans !!

You are probably the type who see the glass half full and see half the story about the subject at hand. Not saying there isn't some truth to what you say. But your comments are not the whole story. Somebody else can write the Paul Harvey rest of the story. Your logic would be also that Rocky's elevation of Bowman job title is without merit and totally senseless. Which of course speaks to Rocky being a successful businessman. Right.

I typed that before I knew about Toews, but when you put it that way it looks stupid. Thank you sir, may I have another.
