I guess the Hawks miss McDonough, how long does it take to set up a presser? |

I didn't say anything about Toews. The Blackhawks are a billion dollar entity with their assets being the players. If you knew Dach would have broken his wrist before he went off to play in the junior tournament, would you have sent him? Not worth the risk in my book. As far as paying customers. will they give me a refund for my tickets the last 5 years of Bowmans decisions? - Gary0301
Seriously? Try a better argument. Since the scenario of "knowing he would break his wrist" is a fantasy, how about we stick to reality. Lets say, just for fun and the sake of argument, the tournament was being held in an arena with known ice and rink issues where statistically speaking more players suffer injuries due to poor ice or boards. As an organization you say, hmmm, maybe because of the high incidents of injuries at that rink, we don't allow our players to participate. That's a plausible reason. Yes, players are an asset, but they are also humans, not objects. They have wants, desires, etc. One of the main ones being to be able to represent their country in international tournaments. Why do you think so many pros want to play in the Olympics, teams wishes be damned.
As for your refund, were you forced to pay?, did you volunteer to pay more when they won 3 cups is 6 years? Do you have a contract with the Hawks that guarantees you anything or holds you to a code of conduct? Your ticket allows you entry into the building for a game. It doesn't guarantee you anything other than there will be a game played. There is no implied guarantee that plyers will be of a certain level, will be competitive or be liked by you. There is nothing that says the GM will have to do only what you like. Your choice is to buy tickets or not, nothing else. |

Toews said he has been tired and lethargic, unable to play. Bad symptoms for a kid his age. Sounds bigger than hockey to me. |

I understand your frustration in fact i share it. I suppose the positive side of it is this didn't happen in the cup years. 30 years damn, real skin in the game. Funny how life works Reichel gets or is in contact with someone with covid and he can't play in the tournament and well Dach can and welp... i thought it was weird getting an email to purchase tickets for this season, that's real optimism right there.

Wow dark days for the team right now .Like is written you have to walk through the darkness to stand in the light .This to will pass .This whole narrative of Dach going to the WJC being a mistake and big waste of time is wrong IMO . It is a right of passage for young players and Dach is no exception .It like a big bowl game for young hockey players . And being named Captain is a great honor for Dach to lead such a great young team .That injury was a fluke and could have happen in practice. Many other teams have their players there and for good reason .Dach young and will rebound missing the year is not great at all but perhaps he will learn more about life and hockey then if he played .
Towes wow when it rains it pours time to load up the practice squad with kids .

I say Shaw is next LTIR for the last 2 years of his contract. A trading piece, because his actual cash out the door is about 30% less than his cap hit.

Holy moly - that sounds ominously scary and more worrisome than strictly hockey related. Get well Tazer. We'll be here when you return.

I know...dumb donkey. Honestly, It is his job to weigh the risk versus the reward. In my opinion, it was a poor chance to take with your best young player. Some may disagree. I believe it is just icing on the cake of his poor G.M. decisions over the last 5-6 years. If you are happy with him, I am happy for you . I think he sucks. - Gary0301
What current GM is better? Sounds like you should have a decent list. Be specific, if you have time, to show why they are better (i.e., your criteria for the list). |

Hey..uh... Theo? You may want to take another stab at that lineup.
Honestly, I'm more intrigued now than I was before the injuries. With Toews out, Someone will have to fill not only the leadership void, but try at the production side of it as well. Maybe one of the kids step up, maybe Strome flips a switch, maybe one of the new imports. Heck, just filling out the forward lines will make for interesting debate.
If there was ever a year for this to happen it is this year. The Hawks were not expected to be overly competitive, it's a shortened season, and there will be minimal opportunity for fans in the stadium anyway. There will likely be more of an opportunity for young guys to break the lineup and we can get a better sense of the overall development.
I'm guessing that I'm in the minority here reading most of the comments, but I think this will be a much more entertaining season than it was originally shaping up to be. Who knows, maybe they go full NJ circa 1996 and just bear down on defense. |

That is available. You can argue Lamarello is probably better, but there must be a reason he has bounced around the last couple of years also. Other than that, can't think of one myself.

Well 6 years ago they played in the WCF and 5 years ago they won a Cup so there's that.
I think he's overall (body of work) a pretty decent GM and can only hope he's able to assemble a competitive club in the next couple years.
I'm not going to debate or try to persuade you to think he's just the greatest but on an earlier comment you posted, I think it's hilarious you can lay all the blame for injuries, bad trades, bad contracts, etc, at Stanbo's feet but as far as drafting he's got nothing to do with it even though as GM he oversees the scouting department.
Good one! |

Those are the choices you have to make. I was a season ticket holder for 20 years and gave them up during the dark years once they traded away guys like Roenick and Chelios. I went to occasional games, more to see a specific opponent than any particular Hawk, but tickets were easy to get and I didn't want to funnel any money to old man Wirtz. After a 10 year hiatus I became a season ticket holder again back in '08. With price increases, declining play, etc. I have considered dropping them again. These are the choices we make. If your hatred of Bowman detracts from the enjoyment of your team then you should by all means jump off the bandwagon. |

Theo - we seem to have a fairly regular discussion about how good or bad is, a cold, analytical look at Stan's ranking in the league might make a decent blog subject. |
