When do you think the Rangers are going to take Ladd and give us a third? |

Maybe it's only a Cap issue when the Isles get turned down by a UFA? |

I believe u can't be over the cap on day 1... so you can't use LTIR to get below the cap. You can designate to LTIR.. and then use that money but not before that time. Which is why he isn't signed yet and also why those other agreed upon contracts are not done too.. .to protect them from an offer sheet. |

It would have been nice to sign Barzal by now. Isles have the money from Boychuk so what's the holdup? It is a great move by Armstrong. Would be nice for the Isles to get a quality UFA on the cheap for a year. - ses111
No they don't until he is on LTIR.

If Ladd goes on LTIR at the start of the season then there's money for Hoffman. Thats not a given yet.
The Blue's were in a bigger Cap (frank) then the Isles. Steen will go on the LTIR when the season begins and it will give Armstrong the $ needed to make the deal with Hoffman. Armstrong had all his other pieces in place and made a brilliant move.
Lou needs to sign his most important player, Barzal before signing a FA wing that is supposed to play on his line. Just my opinion of course.
Edit: There is also the fact that Hoffman's wife was the person who blew up the Ott. Senator's locker room by cyber bullying Karlsson's wife. Kinda thing Uncle Lou doesn't like on or around his team. - nyisles7
Was wondering if anyone was going to bring this up... was it his Wife or GF? If it was his GF are they still together..etc.? |

43 years old and he was certainly slower last year than any other year I have seen him.. not sure He would be a fit. |

I have no issue with Greene but would not have minded Chara on the 3rd pair with Dobson. Chara still has a big shot and could have helped on the PP. |

Well I guess we should’ve kept Toews then we never really had any cap issues. Or at least that’s what i heard. |

Right after we sign Barzal and play him at wing on a line centered by Ross The Boss.

As I said before you have to be cap compliant on the first day of the season. JB is on the LTiR however you don’t take his cap hit off the book but you can be over the cap by the amount JB would be paid. So if you aren’t over the cap you don’t get any relief from JB LTIR status which kicks in officially on day one of the season.
Barzal and everyone else could have been signed and The Islanders could have been up to 10% over this years cap until the start of the season.
Barzal not being signed at this point is and should be concerning as the Islanders could have done it once JB retired due to injury and knew they would have that relief.

This is my understanding 7. Should not be anything stopping Barzal being signed. This is the Isles so nothing is easy especially with signing players. |

First, the free agent market this year was thin. Second, the Islanders need move a play on the top two lines to even consider signing a FA forward because of the way the team is currently structured. Also, if they bring in a FA that impacts Bellow or Walhstrom potentially joining the squad.
Yes, the Islanders need a solid scoring forward to complement Barzal but the market and available players do not appear to be the right fit right now.
If and when things open up and the building is completed. As long as the team is winning and going in the right direction the players will come.
Need Barzal signed and the other pieces in place for the start of camp. |

Lou made a trade to give us some cap relief for sure. That said Cpt we were about avg as far as Being up against the Cap. It was supposed to go up 2 to 4 million this year and obs because of COVID it didn’t.
You put JB on the LTIR and add the 3 million additional and I don’t think we are trading Toews. Reality is the Cap didn’t go up and it totally (frank)ed a lot of GM’s.
Just my opinion of course. |

We were up against the cap before covid. Covid exasperated the situation because we didn’t get the cap increase (which I thought was 1-2 million not 4?) of course but my point and obvious sarcasm was due to some on here claiming there were no cap issues. There were before covid, during, and obviously after which landed us here. Imagine if Boychuck didn’t go on LTIR? |
