It's truly amazing to me this kid is dumb enough to talk to the press. "No comment" .. period end of interview. He really is a complete idiot. |

As I said before you have to be cap compliant on the first day of the season. JB is on the LTiR however you don’t take his cap hit off the book but you can be over the cap by the amount JB would be paid. So if you aren’t over the cap you don’t get any relief from JB LTIR status which kicks in officially on day one of the season.
Barzal and everyone else could have been signed and The Islanders could have been up to 10% over this years cap until the start of the season.
Barzal not being signed at this point is and should be concerning as the Islanders could have done it once JB retired due to injury and knew they would have that relief. - nyisles7
and AS I SAID before.. you can't use LTIR to be cap compliant. YOu have to be cap compliant BEFORE u use LTIR. So Day 1 of the season when you can finally designate contracts to LTIR.. u can then sign guys. which is exactly what the Blues are doing with Hoffman...
"The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun noted that the Isles were in contact with Mike Hoffman’s camp all the way through the offseason. The UFA forward ultimately decided to head to Blues camp on a PTO that will reportedly turn into a one-year deal for around $4 million once the Blues get their long-term injured reserve situation sorted out."
So much like the Islanders.. they are going to wait until they have LTIR to make some contracts already agreed upon put on the books. |

Cap issues is why we can’t sign anyone. Once Barzal is signed have to see how much space we have left. Also we have beauvillier cizikas pelech to sign next year. Hopefully the cap goes up soon. |

Cap is not going up anytime soon.. it's based on Revenue and they are not selling any tickets for most of last season, Last year's playoffs, and most of this season it looks like.. It might actually go down. |

Why the hell did they resign him to begin with? That was a complete head scratcher and then now he won’t be at camp without explanation. Enough already |

Ho-Sang because of the CBA is still technically a RFA. So technically he had some value. Even if his current market value is Zero. It is not hurting the teams NHL cap so why not hold on to him a little bit longer. It could turn into a 7th round pick one day. woohoo sarcasm here....
Funny thing is that is he goes for nothing and becomes something we will not be happy with that either. Its a no win so hold onto the asset until it is no longer with the effort. |

They'd probably still write about him even if he goes to the Europe or the KHL:
"Yesterday Josh Ho Sang had a goal and an assist for the Nürnberg Ice Tigers. That brings his point total to 4 points in 20 games. When asked about his lack of offensive production Ho Sang said "I'd have more points if the goalies weren't so racist." ..." |

He's not wrong. You can be 10% over the cap during the offseason but LTIR cushion doesn't kick in until the season starts. You can't be 10% over on day 1 of the season.
And now I go back to general anonymity

I said 10% before the season starts. Barzal could have been signed and then once the season starts and LTIR kicks in they are cap compliant. They didn't have to wait until the start of the season to sign him was my whole point.
I just don't get why they haven't signed him yet. Camp starts Monday.
So STFU, and get to the Glory Hole |

Cannot understand Lou's thinking on this one. Tough enough for other young players to break in with the Isles and you keep JHS? |
