KFC for PLD makes too much sense
- Rexypoo

Value wise, yes!! And I’d love to see it. We agree.
But Columbus’s lack of center depth will be the biggest hurdle here

Jets fans- the Jets need to let their young guys play.
Chevy- I’m really looking forward to Niku, Heinola and Samberg this year
Jets fans- why the hell haven’t you traded for another D yet.

Its interesting that Lebrun tweets about Dubois might of been wanting a change of scenery and within hours he's signed a two year bridge deal, similar to the reports of Gallagher extension talks going nowhere and within a day or two he's signed a 6 year extension, like were those tweets/reports just to put pressure on those teams or just to create some clicks or what, makes ya wonder sometimes.

Perfetti is so clearly a pass first player who seems perfect for Laine. Would be sad if we don’t ever get the chance to see that.

Everyone wants the kids to be allowed to play. Heinola, Samberg, and Niku in the top 6. Won’t happen.

What we know is that at least 2 of the 3 will not be in the lineup, and that Maurice defaults to experience ALWAYS. With that in mind, as well as the knowledge that the Jets have a lot of bad older defencemen, you are now seeing requests for better established defencemen to be brought in.

Did you think he was quick enough? It looked to me like it he doesn’t have any speed left to burn.

I enjoy watching how smart he is. I watched him and Krebs a lot tonight. Take Krebs for instance, races around very fast and works very hard where a perfetti is much more methodical in where he goes. I watched Krebs make bad passes, miss handle many great passes he was sent and also be out of position often. Now I’m not trying to say Krebs was bad or is bad but I wouldn’t take him over Perfetti that’s for sure.

Kind of unfair to me to say but the guy that stood out for me from the recent draft was Lundell.

But only watched part of game so, like I say, unfair to state any valid opinion. Further observation needed before any opinion to be formed. Hopefully Heinola's late injury doesn't bother him going forward, although not sure if he makes the Jets this season. Perhaps.

Sad to see it come to this, Jack Roslovic is a good hockey player. Not sure about his head? 25+ goal scorer in top-six!

Hope it doesn't come to this, but Jacko, Sammy Niku and Nathan Beauleiu to the Isles, who need offense, for Noah Dobson and Casey Czikas would work for me.

Not sure about how the GM's would feel about this?

I’m so sick and tired of people bringing up all these players they “think” had issues. Let’s review,

Kane-literally requested a trade the day winnipeg got the Atlanta team, never wanted to be in winnipeg, Period!!

Trouba-again!!!! Never wanted to be here or Canada for that matter and put a plan in place with his agent to escape as soon as possible!!! Made the Jets trade him to one team, only one team!!!

Buff- I spoke to his family, directly!! Not I heard from someone or anything like that, I spoke to his family was told this was 1000% about his injuries and body breaking down. He couldn’t do it anymore

Enstrom- sorry Rexy but Enstrom fell apart physically and could no longer handle a simple body check without it causing pain and injury!!!! He turned down other NHL offers (like you have pointed out multiple times ) for this exact reason, he couldn’t play contact anymore and now plays in a lower level Swedish league that basically that has no contact.

Roslovic- played with Ehlers ( who all anylitics show is out best forward ) more than any other winger last year and couldn’t produce!!!!!! He is not better than the wingers a head of him!!!! He wants to be a top 6 player without beating out the 6 ahead of him!!!! He is already on his 2nd agent so what do you expect his new agent, Lemieux, a known ass to do? Don’t be stupid people.

Copp- wants to be 2nd line Center. He has not earned it yet And don’t @ me with micro stats that show how good defensively he is, you have to produce ( actual ) results not chances to earn 2nd line Center. Copp knows this and I appreciate what he’s said about having to prove it. He did not have a better year than Stastny last year so he gets it.

Laine- the guy has turned down long term contracts from winnipeg because he wants ten plus per year. If you don’t believe this you are out to lunch!!! Like far out to lunch. Laine believes he is worth more than he is !!!! This is the main issue!!! He played with 55 more than anyone else last year!!!! Stop talking about ya but when we got Eakin......stop crying and spewing useless points!!! He played with 55, fact!!!!

The amount of crying and refusing to acknowledge known facts cause it doesn’t fit your whining, crying narrative is embarrassing.

Do I have issues with Maurice and Chevy, sure but it’s a business people and some fans will complain for the sake of complaining and should just take up ping pong.

See, I would’ve totally been okay with Lewis as the league minimum add on guy.
He’s so much better than Thompson.

Buuuut the Jets had their guy in mind already, and couldn’t help themselves. Never works out.

Just thought I'd pass this along in case others haven't seen the training cap roster, the guys invited to Jets training camp on a professional tryout (PTO) are Trevor Lewis, Jimmy Oligny and Cole Kehler.

Lewis played for the Kings for years and was on the Cup winning teams, is a C/W but is a 4th line player and nothing more. Oligny is a dman who's played on the Moose the last couple years, a career AHLer who's never played an NHL game.
Kehler is a goalie from Winkler, played in the WHL, was never drafted and spent the last couple years in the ECHL with I think the LAKings affiliate team, he got in one AHL game with the Ontario Reign.

Believe a lot of teams just add on players for PTO's at training camp so they can have enough players for inter-squad games - in case of injuries or what not.

Believe that is the case here.

I think Oligny is signing with the Moose so signing a PTO with the Jets just allows him to come to camp and get going a little earlier.

The taxi squad rules are you need to carry a 3rd goalie so that means Comrie is that guy which leads me to think they'll sign Kehler to be Berdin's backup, the Jets don't have any other goalies signed other then Holm but I think they may just leave him in Sweden for the rest of the year now.

I think they will sign Lewis if he's interested, he'll be a taxi squad body/veteran 4th liner for the Jets.

Also it says Gustafsson and Dano are injured, not sure how severe Gustafsson's injury is but Dano was expected back around the start of the season.

Basically agree with what you're saying.

Kehler might end up as back-up with the Moose, Oligny a depth d-man on the Moose.

Just don't see a fit for Lewis with all the other forwards, but who knows, maybe they have a spot for him. See Dano, Gustafsson and maybe, just maybe, Perfetti, as taxi-squad forwards ob the Jets. But Perfetto will have to turn it up a notch if he wants to remain in Wpg, not Junior.

Junior might be best, if they have a season, for Perfetti anyways.

I've watched a lot of the World Junior games so far so here is my take on the Jets prospects and a few others as well.

Cole Perfetti: He is slick and smart with the puck and always seems to make the best play possible with the puck. He looks a bit uncomfortable on the wing but with the Jets depth at that position, he will most certainly be a center in Winnipeg. He won't make the Jet's roster this year but a very good bet for next season. Needs to improve both strength and speed.

Ville Hienola: This kid is a keeper and will be a mainstay of the Jets blueline for many years to come in a similar way Lars Erik was back in the day. He controls the play well, uses his body positioning well, is very smart with the puck, and can be physical. A great pick by Chevy. Will he make the roster this year ? That's a toss-up but with the taxi squad it's very possible. Jets nearest term prospect.

Henri Nikkanen : He has had some flashes of brilliance here and there but overall I have not seen the type of consistency to visualize him on the Jets roster in the next two years. Vesalainen is a better and similar player and represents competition for Nikkanen

As far as the other players, I was really surprised at how well some of the high draft picks have played. If there was any doubt about this past draft being one of the best crops of players then that has been laid to rest. It's a fabulous crop of talent and guys like Lafreniere and Raymond were not even playing.

-Zegras and Stutzle have been dominant players for their teams. Holtz....maybe not so much. I think Holtz and Quinn were picked to high at the draft which is why Perfetti is now a Jet.

-Byfield is looking better and better by the game.

-Niemela and Lundell look really good on Finland ( in addition to Hienola)
.
-While Drysdale only has a few points he has been a dominant player for Canada. -Cousins has played well (as he should being 7th pick by Buffalo in 2019) but having Byram and Drysdale on their 5-man units has really juiced his stats.

-Marco Rossi is obviously on a weaker Austrian team but I really never saw that much from him in the tourney. Right now I'm So glad the Jets got Perfetti laid in their laps vs Rossi....but time will tell that story.

Mercer- not a bad pick at 18th but once again, like Cousins, his stats are being juiced by his 5-man unit.

Very interesting Jets Nation - thanks for your perspective on the various players - makes for good reading.

Hope to catch the rest of games going forward.
