What are the odds they shift Shaw to C. He worked well with Kane in an earlier life. The RW on that line would have to be carefully considered though. - Chunk
Even if Strome doesn't sign, you have Wallmark, Kampf, Janmark, Soderberg and Carpenter to play center. If anything I see him playing left wing on a line with Kane.

So we'll be lucky to score 2 goals a game, yuck |

Stan after the departure of McDonough acting more and more like his father. Scotty never liked being buddy buddy with his players. - LAHawk
Yeah, was quite striking how he said in the podcast today (I posted link above) that it’s time to just put the players who are out to the side and worry only about the players available to the team. Logically, I get it, but sounded very dismissive and cold to me.
Spent quite a few words drawing a clear distinction between Toews’ situation and a normal sports injury/ailment. |

I played this game yesterday and was correctly ignored.

After 2 years of watching, Bowman, Collition and Hockey Ops just don't have high regard for Strome as a player is all. Ergo, they aren't going to overpay. |

Since Roslovic wants out wonder if we see a trade, If the blackhawks really think Strome sucks, Rozy for Strome? |

Strome would be thrilled to be 5C on the Jets. With Maurice as coach, he would never dress. |

Well if I've been reading it correctly here for the last few months, Strome isn't a top 6 C, so there's that - vabeachbear
Agreed, he's a top 6 Center on a bad team and who knows what on a good team?
I truly hope Stan stands tough with Strome.
If a GM overrates his players they are destined to be a bad team and that GM eventually unemployed. Fans on the other hand are fantastic at overrating their players, wanting to see young players because getting them experience sooner will somehow make them better players. Old saying, "you can fool the fans but you can't fool the players." Our playoff games against Vegas were men against boys I don't think that experience did much to change that and the best excuse for Strome in that series has been "hopefully he was still injured from months earlier, even though he was already back playing before play stopped." And then had a time period off long enough for Dach to change his entire physique... |

I think Smith is still suffering from a back injury. I don’t think he’ll be good to go based on what I heard. |

This.
And based on Bowman’s comments on the NBC podcast, it doesn’t sound like they are close - “Not seeing eye-to-eye”.
I mentioned this before, Strome’s new agent will be looking to show his value to Dylan and sounds like he’s playing hardball.
Jokes on him, Hawks are going to be terrible and doesn’t matter if Strome sits out all year.

Why don't you be an adult, and if there is something typed that you don't like, ignore it. You can choose to let it bother you or not. Why do you have to be a playground patrol and whine to the teacher. If Theo doesn't like what is going on here, he can handle it himself. It's bad enough we have to watch the media act like babies, now there are posters that are acting like babies too? - powerenforcer
Because it's a matter of respect - or rather lack of respect for the rules and for other people. There are a couple people on this site who intentionally and repeatedly disrespect the rules and by doing so disrespect the other people who come here to get away from the crap of everyday life and immerse themselves in the topic of hockey. When certain individuals don't have enough respect for others to not skunk up the place for their own selfish amusement - I don't think that's something that should be ignored.

I don't wish injury on anyone, and I hope Smith recovers well, because back injuries can be pure hell. That said, he would simply be in the way here. Keep him out of the way and let the kids run. |

And another post by this guy with no hockey content?

In The Athletic’s latest article they call out a couple things that I’m down with. One being “Play Kurashev all year” and “Play Hagel”.
At this point - as long as they are holding their own - 100% on board.
No need to be playing guys like Carpenter over them.
If you really want to make Strome sweat, toss out a DeBrincat-Kurashev-Kane line. Sure they’ll get scored on a lot but they’ll put up some goals as well. |

Not to mention, there are few -if any- teams that would be willing to give him larger dollars. There have already been reports of teams with cap space not signing players because they expect to lose money this year and need to minimize the damage. |

You got it.
I thought Strome would he signing soon but after hearing Bowman’s latest comments, I suspect we’ll be hearing the same announcement as Roslovic and the Jets made this week about the RFA not attending camp. |

Strome has a "keeping up with the Jones's problem" - his buddy ADB is making $6.4M and his brother is doing $4.5M with NYR. He needs the dough to stay relevant. |

In theory, this is a good idea, but these are the same guys who were questioning the timing of Boqvist coming up early.
The Hawks have a training camp. Use it to determine, to the best of your ability, who is ready and who isn't. Don't force the issue if guys show they aren't ready. Again, I'm all on board to play the youngsters as much as possible, but don't just throw them out there because they are a prospect. |

I agree 100% - as long as the prospect is close enough to “Show Ready” that he wouldn’t regress by being in the Big League. You don’t want to blow a kid’s confidence by bringing him up way too soon.
As you say - “as long as they are holding their own”. |

Agreed.
Sounds like the young guys are going to get a shot at training camp as you mention.
We’ll see how it all plays out.

Its a throwaway year. Find out what you got. The Hawks already have a couple of Roslovic types. Take your lumps. Move guys like Soderberg, Wallmark, Janmark at the TDL for whatever picks you can get. Carpenter, too.
Regarding upside. He put up 29 points playing 15 minutes a game last season. Realistically, I see his upside as maybe a 40 point guy. Maybe some PP points to get there but he isn't a guy I would go out of my way to acquire. - Elbows15
The thing that I find desirable is he basically is staying home in Columbus and isn't planing on reporting even though he has a year left...that doesn't bode well as a good soldier, "making case to be a start g top six centre, but that tells me maybe he was Told he WAS going to get a shot, then they had the chance to reacquire Statsny and did, so the promises were rescinded.
That means they probably take a whole lot less, thus, MY interest.
