Interesting waiver name already. Not a fit for Chicago though |

The thing that I find desirable is he basically is staying home in Columbus and isn't planing on reporting even though he has a year left...that doesn't bode well as a good soldier, "making case to be a start g top six centre, but that tells me maybe he was Told he WAS going to get a shot, then they had the chance to reacquire Statsny and did, so the promises were rescinded.
That means they probably take a whole lot less, thus, MY interest. - wiz1901
Hey Wiz - Roslovic is actually an RFA. The contract and value of the player is a big hold up it seems.

It's really too bad about Toews and I hope his condition is treatable so he can finish his career.
The Hawks may consider using some of the LTIR relief just to keep the team from having too many young players. I really don't want them to go into the poor developmental choice of starting too many inexperienced players without support.
If they do spend some of that relief money (since they don't actually save anything against the cap) I hope it's for assets that can be flipped if needed at the deadline and only on one year deals in case the player get injured. Alternatively, the Hawks could LTIR Toews and if they start to feel he will miss the season, take on some bad expiring contracts to help other teams manage their cap (for sweeteners of course)
This could be the worst season for the team win/loss record we've seen in a long time. No clear experienced goalie and losing forwards up front before camp even opens. I think it may force the team to play some close checking defensive hockey to help the goalies, since they are looking less likely to outscore their problems. |

Yeah the same hard line used with our Strome.
Thanks for correcting my error, I thought he had a year left...

Back injury ended Secord's career. - rpeters01
Bolland’s as well, and many others throughout the league. |

Not sure about Secord, but Bolland definitely had a back issue that ended his career. |

This would be a good year to pick up some good young players or picks to go along with bad contracts, as there are a few teams that need to create cap space. The challenge is that without fans the revenue will not be there for Rocky to approve those transactions. Let’s face it, Rocky may not be $Bill Wirtz, but he’s still running a business. |

No doubt about Bolland.
Big Al played a couple years with the Wolves at the end of his career, and a year of roller hockey. Doesn't seem a back injury caused his NHL career to end (I know you didn't say it did). |

In The Athletic’s latest article they call out a couple things that I’m down with. One being “Play Kurashev all year” and “Play Hagel”.
At this point - as long as they are holding their own - 100% on board.
No need to be playing guys like Carpenter over them.
If you really want to make Strome sweat, toss out a DeBrincat-Kurashev-Kane line. Sure they’ll get scored on a lot but they’ll put up some goals as well. - Tyler Cameron
I’d like to see Kurashev and a few other young guns get a shot this year, but I wouldn’t play any one of them all year unless they’ve earned it. Just line JC did with Nylander last year.
(I can’t believe I said that with a straight face) |

Is Toews opting out of the season due to Covid and the Hawks are covering for his decision? |

Other possibilities include being anemic due to diet, hepatitis C and maybe some other health issues. I do not think it is those any more or less than something else we haven't deduced. It is a shame, really
Chara not a Bruin. Now that is a surprise. |

Been thinking of you the entire World Junior, every time Askarov has over played the puck, not been square on the shooters, and he has pucks being delivered and let in on the reverse glove side under arm.
Podkolzin looks mighty ready. Against a Swedish player in a tie up he faked a balance issue and with a backward uptick kicked him super hard in the balls.
Adam Raska S J S 7th rounder has played extremely fiesty for Czech.
Loved the Czech win over Russian and how after an eighty minute tongues out shift the Czech team was able to breakaway and score the first goal. They were playing a New Jersey Devils old time middle zone trap...so the Russian were unable to mount attack zone pushes...
and the Swedish Goalie available in this next draft will go mighty early two...the Hawks need and extra first rounder early to nab him too.
Ask me about Teply' and Kruti after the games are done.
Slaggert looks excellent on the checking line...lots of contact...

Why would his diet cause him to be anemic? I’m guessing you’re speculating that because he’s a vegan or vegetarian even though he’s denied both? Even though there is no way I could become a vegetarian or vegan I also know that it can be a very healthy way to eat providing there are certain foods included. One of my daughters decided to be a vegetarian 12 years ago when she was 16. We always figured she may lean that way as she didn’t care for meat even at a young age. She began her vegetarian journey thinking she could eat candy, bread and French fries but soon learned she had to have a balanced diet that included plenty of plant protein. Her blood tests indicate normal hemoglobin counts which translates to not being anemic. If Toews is anemic as you suggest it’s more likely from blood loss than from being a vegetarian or not following a vegetarian diet properly. |

Not an educated guess, but just a guess...the answer would be pay. Opting out results in lost salary, correct??
My fear is that he’s suffering from something else, more chronic, treatable, but difficult to manage while being a pro athlete. |

Big year for Colliton, I think.
He won’t be expected to win many games, so he can concentrate on what his strength is supposed to be: player development. Whatever the roster winds up being, there will be a lot of prospects and prospect ice time.
Colliton’s team this year needs to have a team this season that will compete every shift all shift long, that will battle for pucks, that will play smart 200 foot hockey, that will be a better team (even without wins) in March than in January, better in May than in March.
If that happens, the season will be a success. |

Da Windy City listed 3 potential trade packages if the Hawks look to move on from Strome:
https://dawindycity.com/2...mors-dylan-strome-trades/
I am intrigued by Chytil but not a fan of Eakin or Jenner - ikeane

Yes. How about Strome for Roslovic + ...just for the fun of it.

I acknowledge Strome's deficiencies but I still like him and want the Hawks to keep him, probably more than many of my fellow Hawks fans ... but, I'm fully onboard with holding a hard line in negotiations. At first, after the news on Toews, I thought it gave Strome some leverage in negotiations, but after reading Stan's recent comments, I've flipped to thinking just the opposite. It sounded to me Stan was saying that we know we're going to suck this season with or without Strome so he can sit on the sidelines if that's what he chooses to do. I agree. |
