Great Podkolzin is out of shape just like Virtanen.

He took a shot block in the 2nd and It seemed as if his shifts were 30 seconds max after that for the rest of the game.

I can see the reason for that, I guess it would never be fair for draft eligible players. If the cut off was July. You would have players that are closer in age for an entire season for that season.

Some of the kids like Podkolzin a late June birthday will have one less season of hockey played than the earlier birthdays.

I think Hughes will struggle this year. Teams will key in on him by pressuring him when he has the puck and lay the body on him whenever possible.

I think this comes from what I like to refer to as the Ken Linseman rule when the draft was for 19 or 20 year olds.
The league would be setting themselves up for allowing 17 year olds to play if they are allowed to participate in training camp.

I guess if you moved it to the draft, you're still going to have some kid with a say June 20th birthday who gets under by like 5 days that will only be 17 when trainer camp comes around.

Just weird because some kids get the extra year in some levels vs others because of their birthdays. Not many kids get 3 cracks at the WJC or get to go to the AHL early.

Just an FYI, silovs had 16PIM last season in 36 games in OHL.

Weird how being ok with him spending time in the AHL but projecting him to be an NHL player immediately translates to calling the poster a fan boy. The universe yields what it receives.

I made that comparison a few days ago also. I was wondering what you thought of them seeing you also watched the Comets last year.

I think it is not a bad thing for a club to have a few guys that can come in and not be totally lost

Exactly, these guys are perfectly fine as 3rd pairing, limited minutes, injury depth players. Every team has guys like this. I don't expect much more from them but that's not a bad thing.
