Agreed.
Weird how suggesting he may not join the team or be in a top 6 role immediately, translates to calling him a bust and being a whiner. I look forward to seeing him play in the NHL when he's ready. - NuckUp
JB and rest of Canuck organization deems Pod ready to play in the NHL now. There is a legit debate on where he starts. That's the real facts. Could it be that you hate reality because you like to whine and troll?
I love your new cheer! Very spirited! |

JB also thought LE was a six million dollar player who would have a major impact on team success. Ended up being a huge mistake.
Do you just blindly accept JB’s opinion without forming your own? How sheepish of you. - bloatedmosquito
Well he sort of did have a big impact on the team . Nobody said it was a good impact. |

Didn't Benning say that Gudbranson was a good top 4 defenseman? |

No, the original thought was fine. Now it's a run on sentence.
So you're basically giving him a roster spot before a single shift. I'm not. I think it's just as realistic to think he gets over here and might need more time to learn stuff like systems.
He might even need a lot more icetime than the Canucks have to learn his role and wind up taking reps in the A. No shame in it. Just not as direct of a path as others are suggesting, but just as possible at this point. - Load Management
I know that JB has stated that Pod has been working on his English but he didn’t speak it at all when he was drafted so I wonder if that will slow his development and understanding of NHL systems and lifestyle? |

What does opinion have to do with the reality of what is occurring? Your opinion on what the Canucks should do has no merit when they have stated what they will do.
That being Podz when signed will be brought over to earn a role on the Canucks roster. What that will be is open to debate. But to state they're going bring him over to assign to the AHL is pure fantasy trolling and very sheepish slurping of Trollwood. |

You've got that right, it takes time, months even, to learn Greens system of collapsing as a team to block shots.
No winky face needed for a truth statement. |

He did know English but was not comfortable enough to use in interviews. That's not the same on learning hockey systems even though translators are there if needed. |

What?
Marwood stated that he looks forward to seeing Pod develop his skills in the AHL before joining the big club. I’m assuming that Marwood is not Jim Benning so the post is essentially his opinion that Pod won’t be ready to make an immediate impact upon leaving the KHL.
I don’t think that’s an outrageous statement and it’s probably smart to have low expectations in this case because Pods is not an overly offensive player. Being a NHL defensive specialist is extremely difficult skill to master. Him being Russian, playing in a Russian system also has its pitfalls. Might take him time to develop those skills. If Canucks are in winning mode now then learning at the NHL level might not be the smartest plan for Pod.
I know you and Marwood don’t see eye to eye but his particular take on Pod was not a troll attempt. Save those accusations when he actually does troll. |

Look, you asked that people quit piling on when you would bring up an opposing OPINION,to what you try to post and I for one have backed off, but here you are, regularly picking an argument over what your opinion is, or because you don't read some of the stuff you post.
You complain when people call you NFU, but you act exactly like him, now if you want that to ever change, maybe you need to figure out a way to try to communicate in a language that is understandable, less confrontational and respectful.
Everyone of us humans has an opinion, you are not some type of elitist opinionator, so get off your high horse.
I think what you are saying, is almost exactly what Marwood and Bloated are saying, he will need to earn a role on the team.(as per the bolded) |

Here’s a clip from a recent article on Pods...
Podkolzin will face further challenges when he comes to Vancouver after his KHL contract expires. The big winger spoke minimal English when he was drafted, speaking instead through Canucks scout Sergei Chibisov as a translator.
Since then, Canucks GM Jim Benning says that Podkolzin has been working on his English and that “he speaks really good English now.” Still, it can be a tougher transition for a Russian player than for players from some other countries.
“A Russian native speaker faces a lot of challenges, similar to those that English speakers face when they learn Russian,” said Dr. Chitnev. “These two languages are too different in terms of their structure, pronunciation, etc.”
Now, I’m not sure I would put much value on JB’s ability to judge someone else’s ability to speak English considering his own difficulty with the language. |

These games really are meaningless other than we get to view hockey. Anyone thinking Byfield is going to be a big point getter just because he got 6 against a weak opponent is dreaming . Pods same thing weak opponent. Very good night but I have seen enough of him to know that is not going to be the norm. He will probably score two a month not two a game |
