I am siding with you on this one. I think fans get too caught up in what players do at these tournaments playing against other kids.

Like I mentioned last night Dach does great at the WJC and scores 8 goals on the Hawks and that is at times playing with Patrick Kane. This year is not going to be much better for him with that wrist. Did you see the photo of it? It looked like a Z.

Byram is a great Junior player but The Avs may have a soft D too. I love Quinn Hughes but I think you need a good mix of players . I am curious to see what OJ will bring.

Also why I find the Pods/Hogs debate kind of funny. Playing against the best juniors in the world is one thing the NHL is another beast altogether.

I think OJ will surprise.

Dumba is a decent defenseman, but not that good.

I have watched OJ enough and as much as people here hate Ristolainen their styles are very similar . When OJ fills out he will have a frame very similar to RR and his game is very much like his.

Dumba is trending down and Horvat is trending up and emerging as the leader we always hoped he would be. It's ridiculous.

Agree and good points. Looks like OJ is past all the injury bad luck so we will see.

Ben Birnell just said Comets owner Rob Esche looking for dual affiliation for this year. Pick up players from other teams.

Did you just use a players injury to try and justify your hate for a player?

I have suggested this a few times now. It only makes sense, as the taxi squads and players in Europe have depleted the quality in the AHL.

I think your drama these days is starting to fly a little over the top.

I don't hate him in fact the only time I mention him is at Drafts and WJCs . His first year he scored 8 goals this year with injury he will probably repeat and I think next year he will probably be around 18.

That is 3 years of a usual 8 year average NHL career . Do the math. I really don't see the guy ever scoring 30

A very mobile D but still quite soft.

At least on forwards if you sit LE and Sutter and with Leivo gone. Leaves Boeser/Gaudette as the softest forward.

- manvanfan

Not hard hitting D, but they have size with Myers, Hamonic, and Schmidt (not the Tanevs and Stetchers to get pushed off as easily.)

I think a fast transition D and heavier forwards to play with speed is a good combo. Play in our zone a lot less

30 goals isn't as easy as it seems. The Canucks best scorers haven't hit that accomplishment yet, ie Elias, Brock and JT.

It seems as if that is the style that TG wants to play. A heavier forecheck or better neutral zone pressure should be applied to force a few more turnovers.

I want the 1st back for Miller. He didn't score 30 goals. Not worth it.

25 is more realistic for a good player. 30 is more elite. Truthfully EP BB and JTM were very good players last year, I am not sure the are considered Elite yet but very close.

I think EP and JTM had a shot at 30 but as we all know it was a shortened year.

Hamonic should be a good fit with the Canucks. All indications point at a 1 year deal once Canucks move money or apply LTIR (Ferland).

I am ok with them bringing in Hamonic, although I want to see some of these young defenseman get some opportunity. Juolevi will play and hopefully 2 or 3 other young guys get an opportunity.
Time to see who to cut bait with or who is in the future.

With this schedule + injuries + covid I think the kids on the blueline are going to get a lot of games even with Hamonic. They can easily beat out a guy like Benn too.

Yup.
I also expect that Edler will get a few games off as rest days.

Faber believes that Hamonic is an upgrade over Tanev.

Agree or disagree?

I really don't care what you asked the final answer is Canucks D is better than last year.

For the record

Tanev @ 4.5 x 4
Hamonic @1.5 x1

Hamonic seven days a week

Hamonic is a better defensemen than tanev is as well. Most of his stats were better than tanevs and he was playing with that pylon hanifin, while tanev obviously played with one of thr best dmen in the league in hughes
