Well i'm not a never say never guy but if you could sign him to a 7 year deal at around 2.5M i'd take him. He's just Van's version of Gaudette.

He would be better to go to Columbus with Laine for PLD and Emil Bemstrom coming back the other way.

If Boeser (and his agent) wanted to do an 8 year $24m deal when his current deal was expiring they could. Players, however, tend not to want to make less than they have in previous years, and part of the RFA rules says that in order to retain player rights a team must offer at a minimum the same $ as the final year of the current contract as a starting point to pending RFA’s. This is the “qualifying offer”.

If Troy from Richmond wanted to stay in Vancouver he (and his agent) could have negotiated a two year $4m contract extension but they didn’t because they wanted the starting point to be the $2.35m he was currently earning. They waited until the Canucks didn’t qualify him, oops, and he became an UFA.

LOL not about walking away but what AAV will be good enough to stay long term in good a situation. If they don't lock him in long term before TDL of next season, not this one, then yes he's likely traded.
