Hoglander still on Bo's line today at practice. - VANTEL
TG told people to read into the lines – they don't have time to tip-toe young guys in and slowly try things out... that's why we've seen basically their initial thoughts on opening lines and D pairings.
Hoglander will stay until the scrimmages start – then it will be make or break from there. |

Yeah you and manvan are probably right - I'm just trying to brainstorm reasons why he might consider it and logistics of it from a financial standpoint. I honestly don't think he's gonna play much if at all this year unless its with Utica and I can see him suffering thru it but I doubt he'd wanna do it again next year - if things go back to "normal." - Brooks_Light
If he's going to retire, it'll be after his bonus is paid next year. But his salary is still 3m so I don't see it.
Bo needs to show those captain chops and break his ankles during preseason.... |

Without the pandemic these players would be signing long term, I'll give you being right, if you're right, next season, but only with an asterisk. - Pres.cup
I can't say yes or no with certainty but Tkachuk Laine and others all signed short term before the pandemic.
Salaries are getting crazy and when you see contracts like Tavares Matthews and Marner you see how easy it is to cripple a team.

I can see him walking away or finding some Marian Hossa injury to not play in Utica when their season starts. It's a lot of money to walk away from for sure, but he's also not a single 22 year old dude. He's got a family, there's a pandemic, and he might just not want to bother with that poopty bus ride AHL travel to spend more time at home. |

i'd give up the money and I have nowhere near 61M in my lifetime yet.
I'm currently sitting at home, not getting paid. For an entire month now. I made enough last year that taking a month or two off isn't going to bother me. It's been real nice to be at home with my daughters, instead of doing something I would prefer not too.
So I could see him walking away. |

Short training camp and short season. No room for error or being slow out of the gates. It's why JV is on a short leash as well, can't waste 2 months getting into game shape |

Same here. Work called me asked me if I wanted to go back I said give it to a younger guy with a family. - VANTEL
I thought you were already retired? I've got 20 years before that can probably be considered. |

Hoglander looking comfortable again on Horvat's wing. Just went hard to net, took cross-ice feed and snapped it home.

Hahaha it’s funny you mention that bcus that’s exactly how I feel and my situation - although I do still work the odd day here and there. But I’d gladly walk away from 5mil having already made 61mil and knowing I’d never have to work another day in my life at 35!! Otherwise enjoy riding a bus with a bunch of kids. - Brooks_Light

The percentage that the players are taking of the cap is rising. Which is a bit crazy cause there will only ever be 100% cap for the entire team.
Everybody can't keep getting a raise of the cap percentage. Crosby had 14.50% and now McDavid has 16.67%
Salaries raise because the cap raises. Problem is everybody is trying to take a bigger chunk of the pie.
The size of the pie changes from year to year and players don't get to negotiate their chunk every year normally. |

Canucks have some talented kids coming up in the system. I am glad they did not go long term on any UFAs this offseason.

THIS!!!!!!
this (the primes of these guys and the other young stars) should be the guiding principle to ALL the team's moves. - RealityChecker
I honestly don't remember what Vantels post was in regards to, can someone shed some light? |

Not sure if this is old news or not but just read that today Colin Wilson (Col) retires age 31. There was no date on it so again not sure how old this story is. |

I said this upcoming offseason Canucks will make big moves and even move Loui. If they wait for contracts to expire then they are burning prime years of Bo Scmidt and JTM.
I think Loui will be traded and Canucks will lose an asset and I also think they will look very hard at Brock and Jake and see if they are part of the future.

Colin Wilson, who played 11 NHL seasons with the Nashville Predators and Colorado Avalanche, has retired from the NHL at age 31.
Wilson's career was cut short by a pair of hip surgeries in December of 2019. |
