Other than his agent begging him not to, there's nothing preventing Boeser from negotiating a longer-term contract at a lower AAV than 7.5MM.

I'm not sure about that. His qualifier is the lowest they can offer him I thought.

Regardless what anyone says. Our weakest link has been upgraded. Any GM would take Schmidt/Hamonic over Tanev/Stretcher any day of the week. After watching Stetcher lose 90% of his puck battles down low for the last 4 years and Tanev getting crushed every time the puck gets dumped into his corner and missing 10-20 games a year. I am ready to move on.

I still think it’s a remote possibility as it only saves the team 950K over whatever it is plus he’d have to answer for it in the media.

Plus, and this point has been made many times, he doesn't have to pay escrow in the minors. So he'll benefit financially from playing out his contract there.

I think so – that's why players become FAs and resign with the team for less. Much like Stetcher in the summer.

Maybe next year, his base salary is only one million this year, he’s basically playing for free. To the best of my knowledge escrow doesn’t apply to signing bonuses.

An extra couple hundred K to a multi-millionaire to stay in a sh!thole... sure lol. I know its hard for the common folk to understand these value differences.

So if Utica is a go then won't be surprised if LE is given a valentine's card to that sh!thole.

Although, it is only a 200,000 dollar escrow payment for Loui versus a cap saving of 1.075 million.
If I had FA's money, I would say (frank) it, send him to Utica and let him know to expect to be there next season as well

Correct. That's why I'd like to see how long LE would last in Utica this season as it is the one to do it. Next season his bonus is only 1M with 3M salary.

I would definitely be using a second round pick this upcoming summer to move him

Yeah, he needs that extra cash because his $59M in career earnings so far ain’t enough.

Hard to fathom why Arizona traded him. Tochett just hated him though.

I think they’ve been down that road and no takers, although every year is different.

Its $780,000. More than just “an extra couple of hundred K”.

FA has boatloads of money, hire him as his shoe polisher for whatever remains on his contract. Time for this team to get a little creative, like many of the other teams.

I think it’s more...

“In other words, because the AHL doesn’t withhold money from the players to ensure the owners get their fair share, Eriksson would be owed the full amount of his salary. So, instead of the NHL withholding the typical 10% (now 20% with the pandemic adjustments), he gets it all. That equates to about a $780K difference.”

Sounds like whoever did the math on that, went to the same school as Lefty.
With the 20%escrow and 10% deferral, Loui would be collecting 720,000 in nhl, the full 1 million in ahl.

His salary is 1 mil this year the other 3 mil is bonus and he gets that regardless if he plays in Utica or Vancouver . He has already received his 3 mil bonus
