I went to school for journalism from 1986-1990. Right before the internet boom hit. In school they taught us what we were supposed to do in the world of old media. Our job was to be a mirror. Our job was to use our access to show the general public what was going on. We were also supposed to be the watchdog for the society. Placed there to keep those in power honest.

It was also about Objectivity. We weren't supposed to favor any side. Just report and let the readers draw their conclusion. However objectivity, true objectivity rarely exists at all.

I've written a lot of things on here over the years - and mostly while drunk.

My two favourite Wedgie 'buzz moments:

I wrote a post about how being a Leafs fan was almost the same as being gay: you hung out on Church Street, you faced ridicule and violence, etc. Except gays got a parade every year, so they were actually better off.

Somebody liked it enough to post it on his Facebook page, and his aunt read it, phoned his mom, and the poster (can't remember who) had to have a talk with his mom to convince her he wasn't actually gay.

Another time a fan of another team (can't remember who) didn't like something I wrote, so he replied with "You must be a joy to live with."

I replied that none of my 30 cats seemed to mind, except Professor Meowington, but he complains about everything.

A year or two later, somebody asked me how my cat Professor Meowington was. I searched for the original post, and turns out that the musician Deadmau5 has a cat named Professor Meowington. I have no idea how that happened, but the odds of me knowing what Deadmau%'s cat's name was are virtually zero, so maybe he lurks on Hockeybuzz?!?!??!?!
