I am merely commenting on the fact that the job, in and of itself, actually has very little to do with being eye-candy. Its about elocution, understanding, knowledge, personality, and yes, since it is a visual medium, you shouldn't be hideous.

If you doubt this proposition, just look at the male commentators. They are not winning any beauty contests.

Yet the women who do that kind of sideline reporting/interviews/shows in hockey and many sports in general, tend to be cut from a suspiciously similar cloth. The question is, why? The answer is obvious, because the men who form a large chunk of viewership tend to their visual charms as part of the whole spectacle.

And I think that outlook needs to be changed, for the same reason that other, similar biases have had to be changed.
