Well, if my teammates don't play like they want to hurt the opposition anyway, then I do not want them as teammates. Whether a player is hurt or not, they are not your friend on the ice/field/diamond/court. You play to make then hurt after the game. If you are not playing that way, you shouldn't be playing. - powerenforcer

Geez what do you have against Boqvuist? All offseason you said he better hit the weights, he is too puny, too small to play NHL, now you are saying he put on weight too fast, it is going to impact his skill, etc. etc. My guess he followed the program that was scheduled out by the Hawks off ice training staff, and the results are right where they want him to be.
So I guess this year when Boqvuist makes a mistake, it is going to be because he bulked up too much. - LAHawk
I have nothing against Boqvist. I hope he has gone about adding strength in a way that is not too much strength and increased bulk (body size) too soon. Last season it is my contention at least part of DeBrincat's much worse demonstrated skill was attributed to being uncomfortable in his own body. That is, he lacked the ability to shoot and score in the way he had the season previous.
I have been calling for Boqvist to become our second pair dman, as the offensive generator on that pair.
I have asked, whether the proper method to put on strength and bulk is to do so over two off seasons. I have suggested, furthermore, that how each player adds strength and bulk may be a different strategy because people have different type body and the exact same approach may not work well for everyone.
No one i have seen has replied to my inquiry. So I am left to say, we shall find out how well his training worked. I expect that Boqvist with more strength will have more confidence to handle aggressive physical play. And I realize whenever the coaching staff feels is the correct time, Boqvist will not be asked to hold back a great deal in exhibiting his dynamic offensive game
I am not too worried about mistakes he makes. He is going to get better and make fewer mistakes. How soon fewer mistakes - maybe this season. I feel others on this board - including yourself -"would have an opinion how soon he improves. I read that and I am probably going to agree with your assessment
Now as for concussions
CoNcussions is an inherant part of playing hockey. Boqvist has had a couple or more (?) - so I am concerned about that. I do not expect he will get rag dolled as often or as easily as his history shows because he is getting stronger and gaining confidence to withstand or avoid concussions. In fact,, increased confidance i expect is tied to the gain in strength > frequency he will take a pounding and still keep on ticking
You appear to be a rather astute judge on this board so I will be interested in what you have to say about Boqvist and other subjects. I feel you are jumping on me when I am more just inquiring or wondering how Boqvist will develop. But that's ok, fire away if you happen to come up with anything else which is contentious |

I don't partake, myself, and I turn the channel when they talk about odds. But it does maintain interest from a lot of people. - mohel
If they aren’t interested without gambling, then how interested are they really? These commercials where some guy is sitting on the couch apprehensively trying to decide how much to bet, and someone breaks down the door and makes the bet for him is a bit disturbing to me. Or the guys betting on every snap of every football game? This world that we’re living in sucks. |

I’m thru Mo - I’m angry at what’s going on.
There is an armed stand-off at the door of the House, evacuations of OUR government representatives, gas masks issued to representatives. If you don’t think this is terrorism, you’re not watching.
And Trump does nothing.
I’m out....unles Ebony Raptor gives me a hard time. Then all bets are off. - StLBravesFan
"I'm out, but first let me make a political statement" Lol.
Were you angry at 60 consecutive days of attacks on the government in Portland? And numerous other riots throughout the country. We heard for weeks the protesters were mostly peaceful. I'm sure these are, too. Violence and law breaking should NEVER happen, but I suspect you pick and choose when it bothers you.
I hate that you're unable to keep your political rantings off this board; it has seriously lowered my desire to come here. But I'm not going to let you go unanswered, especially since the proprietors don't seem interested in stopping you. |

I'm not worried about it either way, but I've read that the NFL opts for more transparency. |

Men’s national team head coach Filip Pesan publicly criticized Michal Teply (#Blackhawks) for his bad attitude in training (at the Karjala Cup) and poor performance before WJC.
Pesan said the coaches were even considering releasing Teply from the WJC team before the tournament. |

I come back get ready for hockey, read like 15 great Theo blogs and sure enough it starts getting political again today lol.
Anyhoo- the thing I looked forward to most this year was watching Dach. Felt crushed watching him break the wrist a few weeks ago... then felt crushed again when I heard the Toews news but...
Now I can't wait until the season starts. Counting down the days, hours, minutes, seconds. With McD gone, trading away/non-resigning of legacy heroes and injuries, we for the first time in a long while really have a nothing-to-lose-mentality and I think we might be able to play better as a cohesive group given the hard workers we brought in in the Marks brothers, Shaw back and competition with the younger new faces- but only if Subban/Delia are able to put up average numbers.
I might have missed it but does anyone know if the Hawks have a sponsor on their helmets? And if so, who? I could imagine United or WinTrust. |

Sup jhawk. I differ from you in the evaluation of ADB. While he did add a little size, I think his regression was way overblown. Guys have down years. It happened to Toews, Hossa and many others. From what I saw ADB was notably better in most other aspects of the game. In his own zone, he is still a work in progress. Transitioning, neutral zone and in the offensive zone, I found him to be much better and more aware of not taking himself completely out of play. He hit a lot of posts and yes, he did misfire some, but his numbers will come back once his shooting percentage does.
I'll agree with rpeters1 here when he says that ADB needs to find a way of being less of a liability in the D-zone.
Re Boqvist, obviously, time will tell. He is still young, so large physical growth is not uncommon. I doubt it will hamper him. His skating still looks really fluid and if he can just trust himself to be more involved in the play (instead of being ultra concerned about D), he'll be a real good asset.
Cheers! |

Waste Management?
I'm with you on the state of the team. One thing that may be overlooked a bit is that there are very few guys on the team that played under Q, and thus far fewer that were so used to playing under his structure. I'm hoping this allows for a more cohesive effort by the team. Like you, I'm excited to see what happens this year. |

Good chuckle.
I'm also intrigued by Suter. Tyler totally called it about Kubalik. Hearing similar stuff about Suter, maybe not 30 goals but still good numbers.

Not in the burbs'. It's all Jimmy John's, Subway, Jersey Mike's and Firehouse now.
Maybe they could have that Ankin lawyer guy on the helmets since he's done so many commercials with Seabs and Dinky. Or Bob Rohrman. Could you imagine that? It would be a great tribute to a man I saw commercials for during my entire Hawks watching career. |
