That is one of the most disturbing videos I've seen. The security personnel walked away from their responsibility to deescalate that situation. They just stepped aside! I can't believe the irresponsibility of their actions. They are supposed to be trained professionals. WTF? - bloatedmosquito

I don't understand what you are saying above. How did he rebuild it?
Looking at spending, he's increased spending moderately but not to the levels of past Presidents...
I always thought that Congress passes appropriation bills on military spending that the president then signs into law. How is that trump's work?
You mentioned that trump removed the ridiculous terms of engagement. I'm assuming you meant the rules surrounding airstrikes during the Afghanistan conflict. Didn't that result in a 95% increase in civilian casualties? Here's the link to that statistic:

You linked an opinion piece from a guy who "receives funding from many of the nation’s leading defense contractors, including Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and United Technologies" and "article contributions from major defense contractors who are consulting clients".
The other link was a trump administration reelection ad. Ok.
But I do agree with Loren Thompson's opinion that trump publically pressed allies to contribute their fair share. That definitely needed to be done.
The rest of Loren's opinion is pure propaganda like "investment in core warfighting systems". That has been fact checked numerous times and shown to not be true in the slightest.

The set of explanations I am aware of:
1. Capitol Hill Police are their own entity. They were massively unprepared logistically and in terms of ability to coordinate with other forces (DC Police, SWAT teams etc). God knows why in this day and age.
2. Given the mom-and-pop nature of the angry crowd, they did not take them seriously enough.
3. Some of the force probably come from the same 'cultural background' as the rioters, so they may have been somewhat sympathetic. This is probably what 2Real is referring to.
4. Looking at the video, there is a clear mismatch between the officers who lets rioters create a 'path', and the guys with guns behind them. I didn't see any communication, but perhaps they were told/just felt that they could do no more.
In many ways, it is a metaphor for the Trump age. The delusions of potency for the crowd, and the brutal reality that follows.

Interesting that a police force tasked with protecting about 2.5 square mile area with a budget bigger than some major cities was unable to protect the capital. Wonder what happened.

It's not a metaphor and has nothing to do with the Trump age. Your rhetoric is just more nonsense from a far left liberal snowflake.

But in that video you posted the two security officers standing at the double doors just walked away from their post when one of the protesters yelled at them to leave. WTF were they afraid of? I could understand if they were overwhelmed and pushed aside but they just voluntarily walked away. Nobody touched them.
Even if they were sympathetic, is it not their responsibility to at least try and deescalate the situation? I thought they would be trained to do that? Sometimes a nice dark blue suit, ear piece, and a security badge isn't enough and you have to use other methods. I've seen better security detail at Walmart.
The other issue I can't wrap my brain around is the guy who shot that woman. That was a kill shot. Was he not trained to shot to disable? A shot to the leg, stomach, or arm would have had the same effect without killing her. She was like six feet away from the business end of that gun. I don't get it. |

It seems as though we need to reform what you asked of to me to, "Can you provide some information that I will decide is valid and agree with to back up your claim other than tweets from trump himself?
It's a shame that you aren't wise enough to know that posting gifs like that is the equivalent of waiving a white flag. |

Wrong again Cletus. There is a difference between opinion pieces and statistical research. You might not understand that. The links you provided did nothing to show truth. Just opinion.
But nothing I say is going to changed your warped sense of reality and that’s why you people will dissolve instead of evolve. Just another hillbilly elegy. |

I didn't realize that it was this bad. That you were this unintelligent.
Let's review what you asked of me.
"Can you provide some valid information to back up your claim other than tweets from trump himself?"
What I provided was absolutely valid information. Including information from an official government website.
It was definitely not tweets from Trump.
It's interesting that in invalidating what you call an opinion piece, you use your opinion to do so. As if an opinion piece cannot contain facts. It is nothing more than your opinion that they did nothing to show truth.
Both links I provided are literally filled with facts on how Trump supported the military

Cletus, do you have any idea what a White House briefing statement is? That's what you posted. Remember this briefing beauty?
"Suppose that we hit the body with a tremendous, whether it's ultraviolet or just very powerful light, supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way."
good times but please have some dignity and stick to facts and not opinions. It would at least give you some credibility. I'll give you another chance if you'd like?

It wasn't a white house briefing statement. Right at the top it says "fact sheet". Even it was again, I guess facts cannot be presented on a white house briefing statement.
Now you attempt to make a strawman argument with something that has been thoroughly debunked. You are completely out of ammo.
It is ridiculously easy to put simpleton snowflakes in their place. You challenged me. I met the challenge and bested you. You are not the arbiter of what is opinion and what is fact. It is also clear that you have no idea what a fact is.

You have to understand, there was a howling, out of control mob in action before that.
1. Here is a video AP photographer with his press credentials clearly visible almost being beaten to death.
https://www.instagram.com...N0_/?igshid=1gieqy5188vry
2. Here is a video of a police officer screaming in pain while being crushed by a door frame. It ends with someone from the mob spraying chemical something towards the cops.
https://twitter.com/Beyon...tatus/1347613927836966912
3. Here is another video of the same incident which focuses on the few seconds before the shot.
https://twitter.com/rise_...tatus/1346915187245404165
4. Here is an eyewitness account from a kid who was there who talks of ample warnings being given
Anyway, the cops you saw there were clearly a token line of defense. They were probably trying to be as non-provocative as possible in deterring entry. There were apparently reports that some of the rioters had guns. There are members of congress just some feet away. A person appears suddenly in spite of warnings. Who knows what she would do.
Regrettable and tragic, but the guy to blame for this was back at the White House, after promising he would march with the crowd to the Capitol ("We will go" etc.)
Fairly typical of his life. |

Trump was wrong to be involved in that rally in my opinion and was wrong to ask the crowd to march on the capitol. However clearly he did not intend to promote violence or ask them to get violent. He also asked them to protest peacefully. So he deserves some criticism for that. The real blame here is on the perpetrators of a fraudulent election. If it wasn't for them, none of this would happen. Now I know you claim that there is no evidence because someone told you there is none. However anyone who has actually invested some time, as I have in finding out for themselves, knows that the evidence is overwhelming.
Trump's life is that a billionaire businessman who became President of the United States. Your life is a fraudulent one of a schmuck who claims to be a scholar and an academic.
