Its a great novel, and a nice connection you made. Its also a timeless parable about technology; the monster made that gets out of control. This is part of what happened today - the echo chamber created by technology that continuously feeds the beast.

Frankenstein also reminds me of Trump because he just wants to be real, but never can be. His father created him without loving him.

Frankenstein is basically Pinocchio but with no Giuseppe. Trump can never be a real boy though, so he never stops lying.

There is that strange distinction. Nazi symbols are totally taboo, but Soviet symbols not so much, even though they too are symbols of crimes against humanity. Hitler is the GOAT of evil as Bill Burr says. Stalin is like Dino Cicarelli. People forget his stats.

Its associated with communism, theres been a lot of communist leaders. Stalin didn't create the hammer and sickle. Lenin was the first Russian leader to adopt it. Unfortunately many communist countries have been mired in war, and wartime leaders can be ruthless and commit terrible crimes.

I have no issue with symbol, but people need to know the history. Stalin was a terrible person. But compared to leaders of their time, Lenin wasnt. Ho Chi Minh wasn't. Theres been honourable communist leaders. They werent perfect, but no worse than western leaders.

The main point is it's a giant turnoff for a lot of people and immediately closes them down to ideas that might be worth talking about like labour rights. It's a giant waste of time, aside fron being strongly associated with mass murder of tens of millions , totalitarian government, gulags, etc. Why not pick something else? There's lots of cool symbols. They could have a giant dildo poking their own eye out, that'd be a good one for the far left.
