Once again, I don't mean to pick on Kirsten Shilton, because every member of the media does it, but for the love of God, quit tweeting these meaningless quotes:

Kristen Shilton
@kristen_shilton
John Tavares enjoying early days playing with Jimmy Vesey: "He has just got really good offensive instincts, understands the game very well, and is a very cerebral player. He's got a great knack for finding good areas of the ice to get open."

- Atomic Wedgie

"Cerebral", huh.

I was hoping for some more "physical" this year.

Exactly, It is sad. Shows that it was planned in advance. Should have been dealt with properly as well..
- bixll

Arieh Kovler a political comms consultant based out of Israel tweeted on Dec 21st that
"On Jan 6, armed trumpist militias will be rallying in DC, at Trump's orders. It's highly likely that they'll try to storm the Capitol after it certifies Joe Biden's win. I dont think this has sunk in yet"
It was planned well in advance and they knew about it.
No extra police were on hand.
In fact some police were opening up barricades to allow the terrorist through.
They knew and allowed it to occur.

Apparently she was part of a group trying to break into a room in the Capitol when a bunch of guns came out. They were told to stay away but kept coming. Presumably, they were protecting Congress-types in there
- Canada Cup

She did tours with the air force and now people are trying play her as the victim.
She a domestic terrorist.
Ignored orders to stand down.

. . . and I would agree with this. I've said before, though, that I'm a big fan of Engvall. I like him, probably more than he deserves - but I find he's a very smart player, he controls the puck well, he is great on the PK, his puck retention and ability to hold the puck to retain control between line changes is great. He may not have great hands or vision, but they're adequate, and even though he looks like one of those used car inflatable thingys when he skates, he's still somehow decently fast.

Yes, that's more praise than he deserves. Retain control between line changes?? C'mon, man.

Our pk was garbage, and he was inconsistent.

- fifty__missions

Them's fightin' words.

From watching all the games, he was excellent on the PK, and the fancy stats back that up as well.

If you look at all forwards who had at least 50 minutes of PK time, Engvall's Shots Against rate is 5th best among qualified forwards (out of 173). His Goals against rate was the best on the team, but still only good for about 30th in the league. High Danger changes against - 16th best.

Our PK wasn't great, but two things are true in my opinion: Engvall wasn't the reason, and Andersen wasn't helping (of goalies who had 200 minutes of PK time, Andersen was 14th out of 17 qualified; if you change that 150 minutes, he's a marginally better 26th of 37).

. . . and while it's small - it's something that really does impress me - the guys on the Leafs who didn't just dump the puck in, but circled back, found a defensive partner in a safe place to drop the puck to while changing, and keeping possession - that is something that I really appreciate. But I despise the dump and change process in hockey. Engvall did that better than most.

In light of what Tavares said, I think that may underestimating him a bit.

Damn it sounds like EVERY Leaf is going to have a career year! There will definitely not being any laziness, disinterest, poopty goaltending or choking in the playoffs.

I agree and I think Ottawa ends up regretting a lot not taking him at #3/#5.

You think? He's awfully small. I do recall hearing good things about him, though.

He's also a Wild pick, which means that he's destined to not be allowed to produce offense, and be unnoticed when he does.

@kristen_shilton

John Tavares on #Leafs camp so far: "The intensity in the first three days here has just been extremely demanding. So it's good to regroup here today, get a few things done off the ice and back at it. It's been a great start for the group and we got to keep building on it."

Well, yeah. But that's on the Power Play. I'm also talking about doing it while keeping the puck, unlike Marner.

good thing the whole Canadian division sucks ass, Leafs will have the best winning percentage ever, can't see them losing a game, actually can't see them not scoring at least 10 goals per game.
