Quote from Podkolzin's Flag of Russia teammate: "Vasily Podkolzin was a good captain for us, he motivated us and kept us going. Unfortunately, we couldn't follow his words of advice. We let him down... We didn't crash the net enough. Vasily did that, but we didn't." - VANTEL
Podkolzin looked two or three years further along in his development than most of his teammates. Hopefully that progression continues over the next few years. |

I think people are downplaying the growth that will likely happen with these young kids. The Petey/Boeser/Hughes of this year are better than that of last year. Not a lot of teams have that internal growth. Plus, our D this year is better than last.
That said, Marky leaves a huge hole, and worse he's filling it with a rival. I'm still of the mind that a goalie coach can do wonders, and Holtby will bounce back a little while Marky slides a little.
Pretty much all the Canadian teams got better, it's going to be a gauntlet this year. Can see the Canucks anywhere from 2nd to 6th. - NewYorkNuck
Agreed. But I'm not too worried about Marky in Calgary. We employ his former Goalie Coach. The shooters faced him tons in practice. We've got the book on him.
I also think Holtby and Demko will make a solid tandem. If there's a dropoff in quality starts it isn't going to be drastic. I think team improvement will more than cover for it, but it's not enough to separate us from the middle pack. |

He basing his assumptions solely on Demko and Holtby not being able to equal the goaltending Marky gave the Canucks last year. There’s some merit to that, I’m praying they can.
“The team was bailed out consistently by the heroics of the now-departed Jacob Markstrom and still barely reached the postseason. It leaves a massive void in Vancouver's net that isn't going to be filled by Thatcher Demko and Braden Holtby. Demko turned heads in the playoffs, but his abbreviated run was a flash in the pan. He posted a pedestrian .905 save percentage in the regular season, and the Canucks played .500 hockey with him between the pipes. Holtby, meanwhile, was legitimately bad last season and his best days are clearly behind him.” - Pacificgem
That's the only reason. Other than losing Markstrom the team has basically improved across the board. I think Holtby/Demko under Ian Clark can pull this little miracle off. lol |

Marky will help CGY when healthy no question...it's the groin they need to be worried about. See where it goes. |

He had NHL strength and good hockey smarts . His style will fit very well with Bo and hopefully Hoglander.

It will be the same next year I think.
I like Pearson but I think he too will be offered 2yrs @ 4 mil. Pods can step in like Hoglander . I think Canucks are going to sign a big name next year so it is up to Pearson to decide if he wants to stay at a reasonable contract.

Green on Hoglander progress: We don't have a set rule on it but as long as a player keeps showing he belongs, he does belong. |

Bumps Pearson down to the third line? Lets the team trade Jake? |

I hope so too. I still think they will get a high end top 6 forward.

Unfortunately he doesnt kill penalties so it's still probably a long shot over LE.

I picked Canucks for 6th in the division and I ain't no east coaster. I think they are usually way off but they have nailed that pick this year.

I think Loui was benched the last 7 games of the playoffs. Doesn't sound like he was too unreplaceable.

I seem to remember him playing against Vegas. Are you sure he was benched for that entire series?
