We had an empty bottle in the basement that may parents had put a candle on top, and the wax had dripped.
I think there were also some chianti bottles that had the same treatment - the ones with the bottom of the bottle wrapped in cheap wicker (or whatever they make baskets from).
1970s basement decor was really a fantastic thing. Yes, we had wood paneling. - Atomic Wedgie

My favourite thing about Hungary, though: the fatal (I'm sure there are accents I am missing).
Winsie can correct me if I get anything wrong, but I believe the translation is "Hungarian wooden platter" - and they would serve it on a wooden plate with a giant skewer in the middle, sticking straight upward. And then they would stack meat on the skewer - steak, chicken, sausage, turkey - kinda whatever meat they could think of. Not a lot of vegetables - maybe onion rings.
In the late 90s, my wife and I were living in the Annex - and there used to be a few Hungarian restaurants on Bloor. Once a year she would humour me and we would go for a fatal.
Oh, Aethsie, I'm telling you - the meat sweats afterwards were fantastic. - Atomic Wedgie
I think one was the Country Style where you could get a piece of schnitzel the size of your car. I lived on Walmer (also Clinton) close enough to hear the urine flow when the Brunswick closed every night. |

Not sure about Ontario reds ..probably some good ones but I like my red to be purple - not much of that here.
But for good Chardonnays Ontario does a lot of good stuff. ....look for the name Bachelder. He does Le Clos, Closson Chase and some of the good stuff out of Twenty Mile Bench ....he's the guy for really good full chardonnay in Ontario.
The Closson Chase winery up in PEC is a nice time and still quiet enough most weekends ..unlike Niagara. - The Law
We've been absolutely loving Niagara-on-the-Lake the last few years for weekend getaways.
We find (and I'm sure it's true of any winery) we go to the wineries, and you have a tasting and you're like, "wow, this is delicious!" so you buy some bottles, and then you get them home and they are meh.
But oh man, there is no better place to have lunch than Ravine Winery. |

Best thing I ever did for my wife was buy a 6" clip on fan and clipped it to our headboard, pointing at her. Then I plugged it into a power bar that sits on her nighttable... she can just hit the switch on the power bar at night - Aetherial

someone pointed out that if that 70's show air now, and not when it originally aired, it would take place in 1999.
That makes me feel old af. |

We lived at the corner of Bernard and Brunswick - an old house that had been chopped up into apartments: the basement had a two-bedroom apartment, a bachelor and a laundry room. The first floor only had one bedroom, but a huge living room, dining room and kitchen - and of course the main hallway.
Second floor had a one-bedroom apartment, plus our living room/kitchen and bathroom, and the third floor was all ours - two bedrooms. And we had a yuuuuuuuuge deck.
In about 1997 or 1998, it was sold for around $700,000.
It franking haunts me, Cupsie. It's gotta be worth $5 million to $10 million today.
And yeah, Country Style. I believe it's the only one left - at least on Google Maps.
I can't remember the name of the biggest one - it was on south side, near Spadina, but it had the Blue Cellar Room. If you talk to anyone of a certain age who went to U of T (not me), they all know it, because apparently they had dirt cheap pitchers.
Damn, now I'll have to google around to get the name of it. |

I've been hoping they get one big name all this time but now that they've been linked to literally every single guy, I want them to get two.
This off season will be a complete failure if they strikeout on everyone. - GreatGigInTheSky
I would be really shocked if they whiffed on everyone this off season.
you have the Padres and mets going for it, its the right time...seriously..make if fun for the fans
