weak...Laine is in the Aho/svech trade value range
he should get a nice haul back - senstroll
Top-4 defender and a promising young 2nd line level player is pretty good. Especially because Laine isn't signed long term, but they would have Pesce and a cheaper Necas for a long time. |

This is why a 2 year year deal at a "Cheap" cap hit isn't smart. I laughed when I heard people say PLD contrcat was a steal.

Hurricanes interested in Laine
Asked for Pesce + Necas - mr.sir
Pesce kinda sucks, but his value skyrocketed when the Toronto media fawned over him and claimed he'd be great for Nylander. |

And the Lord said Let there be Light
For when Thou removest the oven door
The little light that He installed
Can never be Diminished
And when Thou wakest up on the kitchen floor
With the Lord’s light in thine eye
The Lord is telling Thee but one thing
Get Thine butt to the nearest Greyhound
Please rise and turn your hymnals to page one and sing along with St Gord

Ho much more do you anticipate Laine getting now compared to what he would have gotten on a LTD signed 2 years ago.
I don't think his cap hit will be significantly higher now than it would have been two years ago.

Anyone catch the interview of Chamath Palihapitiya & Anthony Noto? They suggested that each new born American should get 2k that’s invested that they can’t take out until retirement. - RickJames77
What do the actuaries say this would add up to in terms of post-retirement income?
The greatest theft that has occurred over the past generation has been the downgrading and elimination of pensions. Defined benefit pensions were converted to defined contribution pensions (workers were told that it "gave them more control over their finances - the most horrid lie ever told to workers), and defined contribution plans were simply eliminated.

Their conversation was around taking SoFi public via Chamath’s SPAC and this idea came up within the context of that conversation. The only other stipulation, apart from not being able to take it out until retirement, was that it would need to be invested in US Equities.
And I totally agree with DB vs. DC. My company takes care of a lot of the largest states’ pension funds and a lot of companies’ employees’ DC target retirements, so I’m very familiar with this space. They’re doing something similar with health care plans. High deductible health insurance plans is another way employers are passing the expenses of keeping those employees, onto the employees themselves. It’s a shame, really. Those plans can leave you paying a hefty sum out of pocket every year.

If only there was a way that American workers could get better health care, but I can't really think of a way that it could be achieved, other than adopting systems employed by 30 of 31 other developed countries. |
