Couturier, Hayes, Patrick, Frost. All top nine centers. All long term players for this team. How do we get Frost in when he is ready and who do we move? I know Hayes can play wing. I feel like down the road we’re gonna have to move a guy we don’t want to move.

Obviously I’m a Brayden Schenn fan but I do think about the effect his trade has had on this real both positively and negatively.

So we trade Schenn the same day we draft Nolan Patrick. We get Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee in return, which is a positive. We also have had to filled holes so these two young players could develop. Three if you include Patrick.

If we don’t trade Schenn, do we sign James van Riemsdyk? Do we even sign Kevin Hayes?

When I look back, I think to myself, if we trade the older but still talented at the time Wayne Simmonds, we could still make that Blues deal and get Farabee and Frost. We keep Schenn and not sign JvR. If Patrick doesn’t get hurt, we don’t sign Kevin Hayes.

All of our moves are reactionary. Where would we be if we don’t make these moves cap wise?
