This kinda makes sense. But really, it's more of an urban/blue v. rural/red thing. The Dems win urban areas even in most red states. I was watching the election coverage and even a place like Myrtle Beach SC went blue . The urban centres of Texas go blue. If you look at Pennsylvania, it's all red except for the cities. So is New York State. The whole country is sooo divided.

There’s a lot of learning and formative stuff in all this. As I said, I was a bit younger in ‘68 but man that was a big year. Even as a Canadian, Vietnam and the draft felt big because it was tv war and, to be truthful, the draft made it white, middle class war. I didn’t feel a right/left thing but an us/them thing was right there wit assassinations and Kent State, Chicago, etc.

This thing your daughter is witnessing is so different. It’s like half a country on a really bad acid or crystal meth trip, being egged on. It’s gotta weird but I have a feeling 18 year olds are pretty sophisticated in some ways. They seem to have voted that way in the States.

How is she processing this?

We’ve recently realized how quickly time has passed. We kept thinking we had lots of time to travel to all of these fabulous places with our daughter, but here she is, almost 18, and I doubt we have many trips left with her (I could be wrong). Moral of the story...don’t talk about it, do it.
We bought a timeshare in Mexico, which looking back was a mistake. Tied our hands a bit for a number of years. Too many places to go.

One of best trips of my life was just me and my son going for 4 days to California for Desert Trip festival. Great music, hanging together, driving through the night back to LA. It was a blast.

Went to lots of nice places with my dad, but the one I remember best is a fishing trip to an 'average' place in Norway. Don't necessarily have to be to a fancy place a 10 hrs flight away, you know...
