Not expecting anyone to be out in the first 2 weeks. Top line minutes and all situations hockey in the ahl will be better for him. Laughton is a more proven top 9 option to frost right now anyway and frost didn't exactly blow the doors off in camp or last night. - Tfaehner
No reason to break up the fourth when we have a skilled guy that can hop in the top 9. I can see it both ways though. |

I wouldnt be mad if frost stays on for 2 weeks. Not like bunny has to be exposed. I would be even less mad if he took camp by the balls and got a roster spot. I just dont think he did. My personal depth chart has bunny at 13 and frost at 14. |

I think it’s ideal to have a guy like Bunnaman as your 13th forward but I do believe it’s crunch time for Frost. Speaking for myself personally, I don’t think Farabee has ever been truly deserving of a roster spot but with Patrick and Lindblom going down, who better to play in the top six that you can call up? I feel like we’ve only seen flashes of what lies ahead for Farabee. I wouldn’t be surprised if Frost had the same push because the wait has been a little longer than expected. |

I half agree here. First I think farabee largely got in, to your point, due to the injuries to Patrick lindblom. He had stretches where he belonged and stretches where he didn't. Ill tell you if last night was any indication of whats to come he absolutely belongs this year and is going to x factor with a potential 20+ goal break out. But last year he looked fringe to me.
Frost irks me a little more. He didn't seem to take the off season seriously like guys like farabee nak seemed to. Even bunny looks much sharper. His social media had hi out and about enjoying life more than preparing for a roster spot. I also thought he hasn't done anything crazy enough in camp to make me believe he's ready. He shows flashes of the potential but not consistently. However hes 21. Hes still super young. If he isn't tearing up the AHL this year and sticking by next year I'll start to raise the panic button. At the same time im not as sold on him as some and if I could get dubois or a legit top 4 defenseman under the age of 25 for him I pack his bags.

I would have kept Brayden Schenn. I know it’s an unpopular opinion but Schenn was young when we traded him and always on the brink of breaking out. |

We complain about James van Riemsdyk but it could be worse. We could have Lou Erickson.
Not saying we should claim Corey Perry but he had a pretty good playoff in terms of being a physical player and using his body to drive the net. |

It’s hard for me to understand any hitting of “panic buttons” on any of the young forward prospects given the amazing depth the Flyers have at the NHL level right now. This was also a weird year for development. If what a guy needed most was in-game experience, then I think folks just need to make progress assessments realistic.

not the best of luck from a timing perspective, his big years to really impress have been interrupted, then add in he came in when a lot of the drafting Hexy did started to payoff |

Schenn had one standout year. Outside of that, he's been pretty much the same player he was in in Philly: ~25 goals, 50-something pts.
Would the Flyers really be better now with his cap hit versus Kevin Hayes'? Schenn might score a few more points while Hayes is better defensively.
Smells like a wash to me.
That's not even taking Frost and Patrick into account. |

When it comes to overall depth, it's hard to argue. I have been pleasantly surprised by Hayes. |

Yeah I agree, I liked the signing at the point but I am prepared for the last few years to be an issue. Just hope he kills it the next 5 and everyone remembers if he does. |

Hayes had far, far more impact in 1 season when it mattered than Schenn did in 5 or was it 6? The only time 'impact' and "B. Schenn" come to mind together was when Asham was beating the tar out of him. |

Lurie is not really a trigger happy guy. He clung on to Andy Reid forever. Chip should have been fired earlier.
Pederson however looked completely and totally lost. At all levels.
Lurie has a well known blind spot for Roseman. Almost paternal. Howie ain't going anywhere.

I like Hayes as a player and he helped the Flyers, no doubt. However Schenn was an impact forward on a Cup winning team. You've made a really poor comparison as most of those years Schenn was a developing young player. Hayes was added as a UFA in his prime years.

I did not watch all of the game yesterday, but I watched a fair bit. I was really surprised at how good NP looks, not just in skill level but in his confidence. I know this is just practice but he looked far better than pre-injury (knocks-on-wood). He was making play after play after play. With 7-8 mins to go, he went behind the net, passed to himself off the net (or was it the boards), spun around on a dime and completely lost his defender.
I really hope this is is the NoPa that shows. I did not see a 3C. I saw a future 1C.
Also, this may be heresy, but Scott Laughton should get some shifts in Giroux's spot and vice versa if 2nd line struggles. |

Are you suggesting the captain on the fourth line? Did you see his pass to Hayes for his first goal? |

I'd love to see Frost get some minutes in the top 9 over the next two weeks but we also have to let the lines play together. Shorter season so less time to develop chemistry. But most lines/players have played together. No newcomers, really. We need to know what we have in Frost.
I'm more focused on D group. I think Myers is going to be special no matter if he plays 1st or 2nd pair. Did anyone notice in video clip from camp, puck went into corner and Patrick had a few steps on him. Myers accelerated and beat him to the puck easily. Clip was about Patrick being back on the ice. I think Provy and Myers will be top pair in time. |

A few more points?
Schenn had 58 points in a season that was cut short to Hayes’ 41 points. Tied in points the season before. The season prior to that Schenn had 70, Hayes had 44. Not to mention Schenn gets paid 6.5 million a season to Hayes 7.14 million. Hayes is good defensively but not on a level of Couturier, Richards, Primeau or Handzus. This is not a wash in my opinion.
We don’t know when Frost will become a regular but he’s been underwhelming and we now don’t know if Patrick will have along career or a short one. |
