Looking at the rosters I'm thinking the Canucks are in tough tonight, but it should be a close game. The Oilers centers are head shoulders better than ours with McDavid, Draisaitl & Turris, the wings are kind of a saw-off with Boeser being our best winger and RNH probably being theirs, both are around 50-60 point wingers.
Defence and goaltending definitely goes to the Canucks though. Having Miller out really exposes the lack of depth in the organization. Need Podkolzin sooner than later!! - Pacificgem

My guess would be as an insurance policy if Hamonic is not quite up to game speed. - dbot
Raffy's defence isn't up to snuff. Can't trust Faber's takes on the Canucks defence |

The same thing happened with my sister in law with her boyfriend. She was positive but allowed back out after 10 days without any symptoms, where he tested negative so had to go the full two weeks because there's a chance in that two weeks that he might get it. Where as she got it and then "recovered" - manvanfan
I dont fully understand all of the protocols put in place, but it sort of makes sense in the end. If Benn did have it (or didn't), and presented no symptoms, and Miller was a part of their contact tracing, and was told to self isolate due to the high risk of contracting the virus, the overall quarantine days for each does make sense.

I know that's a nice pom-pom narrative but it's actually not true, not only did they have a better regular season than the Canucks last year, although only just slightly, they made a lot of improvements to their forward group.
It should be a close game... |

the timelines all make sense. I would have thought Miller would have been available sooner though just given the nature of the testing results. As much as it sucks to not have Miller in the opening night lineup, or for a good chunk of the start of the year, the abundance of caution, and the rules that the BC CDC and NHL have put in place make me happy with how serious they are taking this. - Codes1087
Yup, it is the concern about the infectious time which can take up to 14 days.
I have been advising others, that if you have any symptoms, whether you think it is just a regular time of year for sinus infection, sneezing or whatever, where a make but definitely get ahold of health professionals for further advise.
My mistake was getting wife food etc. And not wearing a mask, when doing so, as well as thinking the above noted was just a regular/yearly occurance. |

Same is said with Marner in Toronto, RNH in Edmonton, Outside Gaudreau and Tkachuk CGY's wings are not overly strong. The only team in our division that is strong at the wing is WPG with Wheeler, Laine, Ehlers and Connor. |

Turris is an equal center to Gaudette at worst, he's much better on the dot and he produces around the same offensively, at least last year. |

Once you get by Drai and McDavid it goes downhill quick - VANTEL
All teams have gaps to fill. Fortunately for Holland he has the two best players in the league to work with on the same club lol
So what is up with JT Miller? Is he not playing tonight? Any other players not playing? |

I still think McDavid is the best player in the world. He can win games by himself. If I am Canucks I have Roussel glued to him all night.

I'm not quite sure how they are doing the testing or if it's automatic two weeks isolation. I know Euro soccer, after testing positive you can get tested every 3rd day and after 3 negative tests you are back but if you test positive a 2nd time, it's auto 2 weeks still even if no symptoms. |

Jordie Benn tested positive, then negative, then positive again and Miller was in contact with him, so, according to BC provincial health laws Miller must self isolate for 14 days. I bet he's pissed at Benn |

Turris scored less in 3 more minutes per game. Playoffs last year he was a bigger bum then Gaudette was. |

No matter how you, personally, look at it. Turris has been and is a better player. That said, neither are great third line center options, the point was the Oilers top three centers are better than ours and the Canucks could be in tough tonight. |

Hard to say, I don't see Tanev an upgrade over Brodie, Markstrom will solidify their goaltending, but if he gets a groin injury(highly likely) they will drop.
Their best bet is Tkachuk steps on Scheifeles ankle "accidentally" again and then does the same to Matthews, McDavid and Pettersson. - Retinalz
Gio is 37 now. He's declining as faster or faster than Edler. At least Schmidt and Hughes are here to put Edler as the teams 3rd best defensemen. Gio is still #1 there. |

Under NHL rules, if you test positive in one of the two days post-false positive, you become a presumed positive. Obviously he's now being treated as such. If he goes symptom-free until next Wednesday, he can be cleared by doctors, though it's not automatic.
If Benn shows symptoms — which will most likely appear in the next few days — then he can't return until at least 10 days after symptoms first appeared, under both the NHL's and BC CDC's protocols. (Also needs to be cleared by team doctors)
The ten day period is basically about how we've come to understand the incubation period of the virus. Most people develop symptoms 5 to 7 days *after* they're first infected. If you don't show symptoms by 10 days post-positive test, science tells us you're in the clear.
As for J.T. Miller, as a close contact he's treated differently. Under B.C. public health rules, he has to self-isolate for at least *14* days after his last contact with Benn. That's about incubation period and also his contagious window.
So, yes, even if neither player shows symptoms, Benn would be available to play *before* Miller. Fun stuff.

You think that Gaudette could put up 60 points a season playing between Bobby Ryan and Mark Stone with Karlsson on the back end. Yeah even Sutter probably could.
Turris has always been overrated |

That's what I've read as well, his son was born in Texas. So he automatically gets a USA passport |

It was interesting to find out, a person that develops symptoms, is contagious, 2 days before symptoms develop, so they start contact tracing 2 days before you develop symptoms. |

I am guessing but I think all players had to go through quarantine before traing camp and needed to be cleared before entering camp.
I heard that the team was compromised in the last couple of days from outside contact. I am guessing only that Benn's wife returned to Vancouver from Dallas. I have nothing to back it up but it is my guess.
