Fu ck that guy
But also, why a top 6 guy? JTM is only going to be out a few games, unless they know something else to keep him out longer? Plus, getting a top 6 guy now, he'd have to quarantine for two weeks, and Miller would be ready by then (unless it's from a Canadian team).
Would really force things around when JTM returns, too. |

This is obviously a more mature thread than the Leafs thread, because boy oh boy, people woulda pounced on this one. - Atomic Wedgie

They should let Hoglander show first. |

We need a top 6 guy: this won’t be the first time we lose a player to covid or injury. Having Virtanen in your top 6 is just (frank)ing awful |

Ya, I think the rumors are pretty bogus.
Unless they're really trying to upgrade one of the guys they already have (JV, Pearson), I don't see why they would be trying to make a trade the first week of the season. |

How many excess top 6 guys are there, though? I'm sure other teams are going to go through the same Covid things, so why would they ship out a top 6 guy at the start of the year?
It would also really screw up the cap if they're all on the roster at the same point. |

I didn’t say it will happen. I’m saying we need a top 6 winger. We don’t have enough depth. But it won’t happen and dreger is an idiot |

Golden Knights opening roster 13 F / 5 D - VANTEL
I'm also puzzled by this.
Even if you want a 5 man rotation, wouldn't it make more sense to dress 6 and just nail one guy's butt to the bench?
Are you really going to use 13 forwards? |

Federal government exempted guys from having to do a 14-day quarantine, prior to training camps.

I'm wondering if they have plans to also do so for trades - though I haven't seen any statements one way or the other.

Here is how salary gets calculated. Anytime you refer to capfriendly, remember that is a projection with everything being status quo.
The daily cap hit of a team's roster changes on a day-to-day basis depending on who is on the roster. This is why team cap hit and cap space figures are often reported as "projected" values.
A player's daily cap hit is calculated by taking their actual cap hit, and dividing it by the number of days in the regular season. By the end of the year, the sum of those daily cap hits can not exceed the upper limit of $81.5 million. |

People thoughts of what top 6 guys are supposed to be seem to start and end with generational to elite forwards only. There isn't nearly that many elite players in the league.
Last season a half a PPG player would be considered a top 6 forward in scoring. That's a 40 point forward. People thinking that all 6 of your teams forwards is going to score 60 point each is fantasy. There was only I think 4 teams that had all 6 players score over .53 ppg last season.
I think TB was the highest with Palat scoring at .59 for their 6th forward. |

Agreed.
For most teams, you really have four top forwards, and two guys to play with them. |

Canucks had 2 of their 3rd line guys, Jake and Gaudette, scoring at over .5 ppg, as well as Leivo.
Canucks don't need another top 6, just better bottom guys, who are versatile. |

With that defense, I am sure they can get Hague some experience even if it is sheltered minutes.
I don't know much about Coghlan either, I think his 1st name is Dylan. |

I sort of agree with Don . This is going to be a crazy year it doesn't hurt to have a better back up than Jake

People may not like it, but JV is essentially a top 6 forward by most standards, poopty hockey IQ and all |

I think with the cap problems that creates now and into the future, and with Podkolzin coming over at some point, the Canucks won't really trade for a big name during the season.
Unless they can offload someone in the trade, or fingers crossed Loui or Sven don't want to go to Utica... |
