1 game, 1 period in. I’m going on the record, to be recalled if I’m wrong, Hughes will go down as one of the biggest 1st overall flops in NHL history. I haven’t seen a single thing from him in any game at this level to convince me otherwise. |

Sharangovich hasn't been back since the hit from McAvoy - vlongo4419
They said he's okay but what a douchebag play from McAvoy. Seemed like intent to injure to me. |

Draws another PP and another PP where it looked like it was even strength and no shots again let alone getting set up |

I wouldn’t write him off just yet, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if his NHL future is at wing instead of center. |

Just a feeling. I watched so many NJ greats play their first games and break in: Guerin, Rolston, Sarge, Nieds, Gomer, Marty, Mad Dawg, Patty, etc. In every case I felt like we had something special. Just a swagger. A level of skill that was in your face. Jack’s rookie year was terrible in every sense of the word and numerically speaking he was the least effective 1st overall in DECADES. He looked like crap in the scrimmages and he’s been invisible in this game. I get it, we can’t imagine another Zacha level let-down but I’m afraid we’ve got a very harsh reality coming. |

Living in Winnipeg and when the Jets returned I remember feeling the same way about Mark Scheifele. He looked like for the first 3 years after being drafted a deer on ice, when he played with team Canada too he wasn't amazing looking with Kids. He had no size or strength yet, still just a boy. But given time to mature, and become a student of the game has turned into a damn good center. I'd love Hughes to come out the gate and be a star but sometimes these things just take time. |

Much better period there, looks like we have our legs under us now. Hopefully we can carry it into the 3rd |

Sharangovich has looked solid. I’ve also like what Murray has brought. Tough to start against the Bruins but we’re holding our own. We gotta find a way to score. |

I don’t know if I’d say he’ll be historically bad, but I do think in general he’ll be looked back on as a bust. Personally I struggle to see what made him #1 pick. I think it was a bad year and while NJ got lucky to get the top pick, it was an unlucky year to get it. As much as i think both Hughes and Kakko will be average, I think we also have to consider if NJ were to take anyone else they’d have been mercilessly roasted and fans would’ve had conniptions. They were in a tough spot and took the guy they thought would be the better of those two choices. It just happened to be a “meh” year to get the top pick. All in all, Hughes isn’t the reason NJ sucks right now. |

So far this game is Boston PP with Wood in the box 2 to Miles Wood 1. I didn’t see Miles Wood being the deciding factor in this game. |

I thought it hit Egor. Either way nice for one of them to get their 1st in their 1st game. |
