I thought it hit Egor. Either way nice for one of them to get their 1st in their 1st game.

I think you're right. replay showed it hitting his stick. The two players who have looked the best deserve it.

Not too bad after the disaster of a first period.

Yeah honestly i thought it went pretty well after the 1st. I think all the kids played well except Kuokkanen. Shara definitely stood out, and Ty, McLeod, Bastian played well after they settled in. Jack quietly with a 2 point night, shouldve been 3 if Trav buries the the puck at the end of OT

Also, Subban playing 30 minutes needs to stop

After 10 months off, a new coach, new players, rookies and missing Nico, bratt and vats

Bad 1st with no legs but good to see they crawled back to get a point against a top team

U see NHL.com gave Hughes 2 assists

I was terrified when they started the 3 on 3 with Subban as the lone Dman behind Palms and Hughes.

Johnsson looks pretty weak physically too. Seemed to get bodied/pushed around a lot tonight. I’d really like to see the top six winger we went out and traded for produce more than 1 SOG. I know it’s the Bruins but he wasn’t noticeable unless he was getting pushed to the ice.

Agreed, honestly a lot of vets had off nights tonight. From the forward perspective i thought Johnsson, Palms, and Goose were our worst players tonight aside from Kuok. I think those 3 will be fine though. I just want Nico and Bratt back in this lineup. And on the back end, get Tennyson and Kulikov out of the lineup. I wanna see Butcher get in there for one of them, and hopefully Sami gets here soon

All in all though, it was a pretty good effort after the 1st period. Lets get our full lineup here asap

Blackwood is legit. The fact that it was even close when we were getting outshot 2 to 1 is amazing. Aside from him I though Ty and Sharangovich showed some positive things, everyone else ranged from meh to awful.

He really looks done. I had some false hope he'd be able to turn it around and just play average, but its looking like we won't even get that out of him. Obviously it's only 1 game this season but it doesnt seem like he has anything left in the tank. He still has a heavy shot, but hes not even making that useful by hitting the net. I hope Seattle takes him in expansion, but i doubt it

With an incomplete lineup, against a perennial Cup contender, we came back TWICE to tie it up and took the Bruins to the 3rd shot a shootout. I'd say this is a success compared to last year! Considering Palms had a breakaway, Jack had an amazing opp and Zajac whiffed... we came within an inch of beating a team that could win it all!

MB29 was amazing

Zacha was really good

Ty was not out of place in an NHL game

Yegor stood out

Our D settled down after the first

Wood is still Wood but he had 3 breakaways in a single game!

If we lose 56 this way, I am in... that was fun to watch and there was a lot to like

So I watched the 3rd, not 30 games, not 3, just the 3rd.

Hughes is 10% better than last year. He’s also still a tremendous liability, looks lost half the game, is easy to stop, costs more plays than he makes, is a disappointment.
Sharangovich > Hughes
Zacha > Hughes
Basically everyone besides Bastian > Hughes.
I don’t care about his edgework, his jump in his step.. who cares if it’s not used through an nhl level hockey mind. Someone before mentioned scheifele or someone being a student of the game. Has Hughes ever given you that impression from his interviews and demeanor?
Hope I’m wrong. Again, just the 3rd period of game 1.
Smith may in fact stay in the lineup for a bit. Kid looked good enough out there.
Wood of course scored the only way he could.. with his body on the ice crashed against a net. Apparently he took 2 goalie interference penalties? Lol

Also, she remains the brightest spot of the show.

1 game, 1 period in. I’m going on the record, to be recalled if I’m wrong, Hughes will go down as one of the biggest 1st overall flops in NHL history. I haven’t seen a single thing from him in any game at this level to convince me otherwise.
- WayneZ

I thought he looked pretty good, great zone entries and controlled a lot of breakouts. Good passing as well. He's probably going to be the best player on the team by the end of the season, if he isn't already. I wouldn't lose hope yet!

Subban awful. Looks frantic out there. I watched a lot of Edmonton games when Yakupov had been drafted and the resemblance is uncanny.

Team looked good after the first period. Plenty of positives.

Would be silly to overly analyze the first game after 10 months, especially with a new coach, new system, half of the team is new, and against a team like Boston. All in all they did well.

Jack Hughes will be a star in the league. Just be patient.

Bottom line is it was entertaining hockey and they adjusted as the game went on; which rarely happened under Hynes. If they get Nico and Bratt in the lineup the offense will have fewer people playing over their heads.

Happy the kids did pretty well but still convinced we should have added another UFA vet. Glad Vats is coming because the D wasn’t bad but he will help.

Zajac has been a consistent positive for this team but seeing him as our starting center was scary. Glad Baby Marchand kept it pretty clean. That POS is a great hockey player.

Blackwood deserves more money. Seriously, he might be Ray Ray’s best draft pick.

It was definitely a fun game. I keep also forgetting that there were no preseason games. I think all the older players were rusty and will play better in the coming games when they get into game shape, and that only comes with games. The first period was all the "pre-season" they get!

Really looking forward to Saturday!

Fun game to watch. Really liked that they didn't roll over after getting so severely outplayed in the 1st period. I think that is large in part due to the play of MB29 - without him, the wheels would have fallen off pretty quickly. If they play like this each game, at least we will be competitive, but it is definitely not sustainable.

Small sample, but the game was a good indicator of how the season will go. Great goaltending (hopefully on a consistent basis), porous D that easily gets beat down low, and lack of offensive talent/fire power. However, one would hope that the Offense picks up notch once Nico and Bratt return. Does anyone know of their individual return timetables? Vatanen as well?

Lastly, does anyone think MB29 is a little upset about Crawford (relax, Vlongo - I know the guy got hurt)? But, MB29 signed his contract extension AFTER Crawford had signed a 2-year deal that pegged some sort of timeshare (60/40?). Now, with Crawford's exodus it looks like MB29 will be looking at more of a 85/15 split. Probably would have been a much more lucrative contract for MB29 if this was the case going into negotiations.....
