5-0 win. That disallowed goal was a joke. If the score was close they’d have a hard time over-turning that call. That said...great win wire to wire. Coulda won 9-0 tonight. The Rangers are weak - BringNYIhome
Whoa Nelly....it's 1 game The NYR will be battling us all season. They are a good team |

The rangers aren’t winning anything this season. They don’t play a team game and are young. As I said in the other blog, isles have the best coach and play the best team game in hockey. Once the rangers build that and an identity their talent should take over and go from there. |

Wow, Brooks really ripped the Rangers.

Larry hates losing to the Islanders. Rangers need toughness. They are trying for the Smurfs part II. You need a tough guy in the lineup just for Lafreniere. Rangers better hope Trouba does not turn into a Shatty signing. |

Rangers are not a good team at all. They got swept away by the hurricanes easily and the Islanders are a cup contender. Islanders manhandled the hapless Rags last night |

Rangers have very good offensive talent but no grit and a very suspect defense. They are not ready for prime time yet. |

The NHL network was spot on before the Isles game. This Islanders team is pretty much the same team in the same system minus a couple of guys. They are all very familiar with their roles and Trotz system. That should be a big advantage for at least the first 8-10 games while other teams figure out their new players, systems, etc.
The rangers looked terrible last night for sure but they had 2 kids playing their first NHL game. Essentially a rookie in net and unlike the Islanders who played all of August and September... almost into October.. the rangers have not played since the first week in August.
I am obviously happy with the result last night and hope we can take 2 from them to start season, but I wouldn't make huge blanket statements about either team just yet... 2 points.. LGI!! |

Way too early to tell anything yet for sure. Islanders certainly should be a strong playoff team. It's all about whether the Islanders have enough offense to get past the elite teams. Rangers should have a bright future but they are not ready to be a serious contender yet.

My hope is they struggle so badly that they give up on some of these kids too early in the next few years. |

They do not need an entire team of MM or Ross but they need at least one. Rangers should offer a package for Ross. |

The Rangers are very Leaf-y to me. They have a ton of firepower on offense but their defensive game is pretty weak. If they can't outscore a team on any given night then they almost certainly won't win the game, unless goaltending stands on its head and steals one.
They need another top-6 center bad and I'm really hoping it's not Dubois Isles slaughtered them in the faceoff circle last night. |

They do seem to be similar to the Leafs. Rangers have to have some concerns with Trouba. They have not had a lot of luck in acquiring big name dmen lately. |

Well most teams don't let the actual high-end ones walk ever, or at least not until late in their career when the game has passed them by or is close to doing it.
I'm not very impressed with Trouba. I don't think he's a bad defensemen by any stretch of the imagination but I do think he's overrated and overpaid. |
