i agree that the defence is much better, very debatable on goaltending IMO. Andersen gets lots of wins, but sv% and GAA are pretty shaky. i'd rather have Murray in net than Andersen
- sensarmy_11

Did you just use GAA and SV% to support your argument about Murray? Wow. Did you see his numbers last season?

I think you and Matt Murray’s mom are the only two people on earth who’d take him over Andersen

in the 4 years that Murray has been a starter in the NHL, he's been better than Andersen in 3 of them. He's still only 26 years old. i'm willing to believe that he had an off year.....it happens...2 years ago Carey Price had worse stats than Murray did last year.

Andersen has been getting worse for 3 straight years and is 5 years older.

i'll gladly take Muray, thanks

We must be looking at different numbers. In the past four years, Andersen has been far superior to Murray twice. Even behind TO’s relatively porous defence

Freddy’s SV% has been remarkably consistent over that span, with the exception of last year when it dipped slightly. Not nearly the catastrophic drop Murray suffered, but a drop nonetheless

Anyways, not gonna argue. Agree to disagree. I actually am not enamoured with Freddy, I just think he’s a much safer bet than Murray

Calling out all those names pre-game, I would be happy to be a Sens fan, so long as Murray works out.

Ottawa has a bunch of d-men who are huge and physical but who don't skate well.....strategy is then, stand in front of the net and kill anyone who comes close.

Gudbrandson and Brown will be no more than 5 feet away from Murray's crease all night, delivering a few of those cross checks that the leafs were crying about the other night.

Defense is the Senators Achilles Heel, right now we have Chabot and probably Wolanin as the top D Men with the rest being pylons. Thank goodness the Sens picked Sanderson at 5 instead of another prospect forward.

Anyone else finding Nick Paul might actually turn into a middle-6 player for this team?

Wasn't joking when I said Paquette is one of the least effective players imaginable.

At least Coburn can blame age.

Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
Stutzle - Stepan - Dadonov
Galchenyuk - Tierney - C. Brown
Paul - Anisimov - Watson

Chabot - Gudbranson
Wolanin - Zaitsev
Reilly - J. Brown

Fixed!

P.s.
Feel free to swap Galchenyuk and Paul.

P.p.s.
Still not sure what to make of the Colin White situation.

Same old maple leafs lol.

It's one game into the season with no training camp. Speaking of scoring chances I hope you are ready to see a whole bunch in your end tomorrow night

I said 6-3, I was close, lol. Ottawa wasn't necessarily good today, but Toronto looks awful to start the season. They were just as bad against the Habs. They need to start protecting Matthews, he was getting destroyed all game. Tkachuk was amazing.

Didn't notice Stuzle too much, saw him come close on a couple breaks. I think we'll see more of him tomorrow.

Liked Batherson's game.

Brady's Brady of course.

Rielly and Brodie a combined -7, I believe. Great top pairing.

One loss and the Toronto sports media is losing its mind. Some things never change, I guess. The TSN talking heads post-game were acting like The Leafs just got eliminated from the playoffs. Lol

- I thought Murray was great. He had no chance on the first two goals. He has a quiet confidence about him that reminds me of Anderson (in his prime).

- Stepan was noticeable all game. He said he was gonna play like he has something to prove, and he delivered on that. If he can keep the same intensity and effort all year, he'll prove a very worthy addition, and may even become a fan favourite.

- It was great watching all those huge D men push the Leafs around down low. But I'd like to see them be a bit more effective at clearing the crease.

- The PP unit of Tkachuk, Chabot, Dadonov, Norris, and Batherson looked pretty good. On paper it certainly isn't the best PP in the division, but they looked quite good. Which segues into my next point...

- I would have liked to have seen Stützle get a bit more ice-time, especially on the PP. We had a PP later in the 3rd period when we were up 5-3, and DJ threw out the same PP unit for like 80% of the duration. Some people need more cowbell; I need more STÜTZLE!!

it's exactly like i said earlier....the Sens big D-men were pushing the leafs around close in, so they mostly stuck to the perimeter. the problem with that is that those same big Dmen are slow as poop, which is why the leafs were able to cycle the puck so effectively and maintain the puck for so long in the sens zone. the severe lack of speed on the back end will eventually bite ottawa in the ass. I think Rielly should be in there for Cobourn
