Great day of hockey yesterday.
Oilers get run over by Montreal, Edmonton’s goaltending worse in the North.
Flames kick the Canucks where it counts, on the ice. Total domination, Markstrom giving Benning the old FU!
Monday will be better.

After the way last year ended for the Flames, I can understand why this was your Stanley Cup..two games in.

Good post.

Didn't really occur to me till last night, but our PK units consists of our 4th line forwards and roussel. Isn't it funny though that they are our worst defensive forwards on the team when playing 5v5, but we utilize them when on the PK? I think Pearson also takes shifts on the PK, but thought it was a weird tactic.

Wasn't really a good game by any means by either team. Flames were 100% better, but overall it was sloppy. The one player who stood out to me was mangiapane. He is a hell of a player

This is how I feel when my team loses. I didn’t quite see the game the same way.

Dube>Hoglander

How do you like Hamonic so far? Won’t take long and you’ll realize why the Flames let him walk.

Haha I'm not going to start comparing hoglander to anyone yet, haven't seen enough of him.

Hamonic hasn't done anything wrong that makes me dislike him, nor done anything great that makes me think Benning is a genius. For 1.25 though, he's filling a role that we needed fill, and I'm fine with that as long as he's consistent with what he's shown through 3 games. He's picking up points to boot.

Who isn’t happy stomping their #1 rival? I’ll enjoy it while I can. I’m sure the Flames won’t sweep the series and look forward to the comments.

But if they didn't have those guys on the 4th line then the Canucks would be like the Maple Leafs.
I hate Green. Dreadful coach.

Pearson and horvat are easily our two best defensive forwards (as evident by game 2 vs mcdavid). As much as I hate to say it, LE is better than Beagle and sutter defensively, motte is fine on the PK. If we are going to take that many penalties, we have to be able to counter with a effective penalty kill

Didn't someone post that green had dabbled in practice with virtanen taking shifts on the PK units because of his speed?

And we'll probably be losing him after the season.

That is the way it should be. It's pretty rare you have top 6 forwards kill penalties.

Canucks fans don't care. He's cheaper than Tanev.

Motte is the guy taking the penalties.

He has been in the box for 3 of 4

Plus it's been proven PK is not a suit that fits Horvat for some reason or another.

This is pretty much the preseason for a lot of players ...teams haven’t gotten a chance to try things out like they normally would

It shows. Every NHL game I have watched so far has been sloppy. Passes are off, line changes are bad, players look so tired. I imagine we don't see great hockey until 15 or 20 games in for each team

Life’s too busy to be here all the time lol but yes when marky shuts out his old team I’ll definitely come out of the woodwork to give you guys the gears.

On another note I have EP in my pool so he can pick it up anytime now lol

I remember Calgary being a true rival in the 80s and maybe a little bit again during the Iginla playoff battles but it’s faded IMO. Much like when Wild fans say we had a rivalry. Sure, ok.

For me it will always be Avs and Chicago. I still hate those teams.

Yeah, I'd be pretty worried if we got swept in any series this year. Enjoy, I know I've done my share of baiting you so I probably deserve some back today.

I disagree. I know there's juggling with player deployment when they play heavy 5v5 and PP, you want to manage their time on the PK, but I don't necessarily agree that lines 3 and 4 should primarily be PK units. Put out your best defensive players on the PK, just like you put out your best offensive players on the PP.

Gonna take around 6 games for teams to really hit the stride. All good.
