Gonna take around 6 games for teams to really hit the stride. All good.

At least that. If it was just the canucks I'd be worried, but man there is terrible hockey being played around the league right now

I disagree. I know there's juggling with player deployment when they play heavy 5v5 and PP, you want to manage their time on the PK, but I don't necessarily agree that lines 3 and 4 should primarily be PK units. Put out your best defensive players on the PK, just like you put out your best offensive players on the PP.
- Codes1087

Yeah, if you can. The Canucks can't.

Plus during the intermission the other night. Brian Burke said what I had said.

Eat it K-man!!

Oh ya and suck it too!!

Shambles here! 1st your mighty Oilers take a beating playing with an ahll goalie, then your Canucks can’t stop the power play. Made my night.
Keep your chin up, positive thoughts only.

Canucks fans don't care. He's cheaper than Tanev.

Don’t care, I’m not paying.

Very courageous of you to admit but Burke is an idiot.

I am not sure but I think I read somewhere that JTM might be available Wed for the first home game. If not oh well .

I said just before the season started that the team will succeed if Petey and Quinn have a good year not if Beagle and Sutter have one. Petey has one assist in three games. He looks reluctant to shoot and has not looked close to last years form IMO. Him and Quinn both had the night of shattering sticks and last night Hughes seemed to lose his edge and fall down a few times.

If you are thinking of saying we lost the fire power with Toffoli , TT has no points yet either and the person they replaced him with does.

I see some old bad habits and trends continuing from last year with a lot of players and changes will come later this year so again try to enjoy the year. You will either get a high draft pick or fun hockey to watch.

when Markstrom and Tanev do to the flames cap what Beagle and LE and Sutter are currently doing to ours, you will care.
- Codes1087

This has been going on since the salary cap. All teams overpay players. Those slugs will come off your cap and your next GM will sign more. It’s their livelihood, trying to protect their job not caring about the consequences.
We got Lucic, did you notice how slow he is? Although that hit on Rousell was priceless and the big screen on DUBE’S goal, ya baby!

Nobody is willing to get their noses dirty. Soft perimeter hockey and light traffic around the net. Guys should have been falling all over Marky last night instead they played like it was a scrimmage.

I'll bet Green is regretting doing penalty shots in the intra-squad as opposed to, ya know, getting extra special teams time in.

Let's not panic here people, it is 3 games in. We need to give everyone at least 6 games to get into the flow and make adjustments, where necessary.
It is obvious somethings like both special teams need adjustments, as do some system's, etc.
Sometimes the best way to get out of a bit of a funk is to get back to basic, which includes the occasional takeout, driving the puck to the net, dump the puck in and put some puck pressure on.
Trying to get to cute on passing the puck and not dumping puck out or trying to set up for the perfect shot can often lead to many turnovers/penalties and 0 for 11 powerplays.
Having 3 defensive players on the 3rd line probably isn't the best idea either, so once Miller gets back, I expect to see Virtanen on 3rd line withSutter and Roussel.
Currently, the 4th line of Gaudette with MacEwen and Roussel has looked lost, a bit of deer in headlights syndrome.

Be a little patient here and let some of these new guys on defense adapt and players get their legs underneath them.

Go Canucks Go.

Same stuff every year right? We should be use to these habits.

I thought Brown should have been fired two years ago because he stinks. You don't have to defend hard to stop our PP just let them keep killing it ourselves passing back and forth on the perimeter

I do like watching Hoglander

I would put Bailey in even for a few games and pull out Roussel or Motte to send a message for the team to wake up even though Zack deserves to sit more.

i deleted because it wasn't really necessary to what they provide now relative to their current cap hits, but you should always care about what players have what influence on your cap. Every team will have bad contracts for sure.

Two solid posts in a row,

The PP passes way to much, Markstrom made some great saves through the game but I totally agree he should have felt more of a physical presence.

Pretty hard to criticize the coaching when no one was interested in competing.

my god this has been ridiculous. Both Brock and Petey have had how many of their cross seam passes picked off? They need to simplify it and shoot more

Agreed, if we continue to play like we did the last two games, we are guaranteed a top 4 pick. Green seems to have no real system, each game they play so differently. It's like they are a different team each game so far. And our PK is terrible, and PP is even worse.

That might be the only bright spot.

They have been getting clobbered but the PK and PP aren't going to be this bad all season.

It's not too often PP2 gets set up but is Motte the net front there? Motte and Hoglander i'm sure provide great screen to 6'6" goaltenders.

I have not liked Motte at all this year . . Five costly penalties in three games currently -10 . He was also a real Dbag in the two slew foot scrimmage.

It's not to often that PP2 gets more than 30 seconds of PP time and it is always after the puck gets cleared which takes 8-10 seconds off of any available PP time.
A player like Zacmac or even Edler should be planted in front of the net.
