During the intermission of last night's games the HNIC broadcast highlighted players and game show hosts? who passed away in 2020. Hawerchuk was not mentioned. Incredible! - justsaying
Typical. CBC/hnic have treated the Jets and Winnipeg with casual disregard as long as I have been alive. In part they are responsible for indoctrination of many Canadians to become fans of Toronto and to some extent Montreal. This was a major failure of a broadcaster funded by all of us. It continues. |

We struggled to create offence, which the other teams did not. Only Detroit created less. We just have crazy shooting talent.
You really overestimate this team based off of their performance in the last two years. League average goaltending would put us in the 28-31 range - Rexypoo
I think you're lumping together coaching and personnel Rexypoo. Trade Maurice for Julien and the Jets would probably be the favorite to win the division with who they have right now. Add one prime top 4 defenseman and I don't see a weakness.

This is possible as a concept, but Julien isn’t the example to use. He plays Chairot and Edmundson on purpose over Mete and Kulak.
The coaching can make up for a lot, but we still don’t have a good transition guy in our lineup on the back end |

Here comes jetsnation with the personal insults because he hasn’t been able to read the number on a players back since the Vietnam war.
Say something of substance. You’re the only person on this board that never actually makes a point. You just show up and tell people they’re wrong, insult them, then act like you know what you’re talking about - Rexypoo
I only shoot down the trolls . and the only troll on the Jet's message boards is you. Go play somewhere else. Hockeybuzz really needs a "block" or "ignore user" feature.
A “Message Board Troll” is a person who posts outrageous message to bait people to answer.Trolls delight in sowing discord on the forums. Someone who inspires flaming rhetoric, someone who is purposely provoking and pulling people into ridiculous discussions. He is divisive and argumentative with a need-to-be-right attitude but never admits his mistakes. Trolls are usually an expert in reusing the same arguments. |

I feel badly for Travalgia......he takes the time to post something (even if it is just telling us what we already read in the media, the previous day), and then 90% of the comments are just "rexy vs. world" or vice versa.
Travalgia should just post the score from the previous night and say "discuss among yourselves". |

I’m 80% sure the only reason he hasn’t perma-banned me is because I’m an Andrew Copp level engagement driver |

Barzal-bridge deal not long term, Isles have major cap headaches
Hall-one year deal and almost 30 years old
Pietrangelo- Vegas cap advantage due to state tax rate and is 30 years old - JetFuel
Doesn't matter. That doesn't inherently mean a player who has a lot to prove deserves 40% more. And Laine, like Barzal, is still an RFA after this season. Chevy has the control on this one, a one year deal would obviously indicate that he is on the move, but I ask again, who in the right mind would ink the kid to a contract north of 10M.
No comparing these players. Hall won the MVP leading his teammates by a massive margin.
Pietrangelo was easily the best D in the playoffs, helping the blues hoist a cup.
Laine has a great shot and has a ton to prove beyond that. If his value is that high, then I am sure a trade could have been reached sooner. Obviously teams are not willing to commit much to acquire him on the trading block.

Josh Morrissey has been very good at a lot of things in his NHL career, but when is the last time you saw him carry the puck from our end and not either chip it up the boards, or throw a very short pass to the nearest forward when he runs out of room?
*edit*
I actually wanna further add to this by pointing out that Morrissey played his best hockey with Buff and Trouba. Obviously Buff was a force of nature that did his own thing, but one could argue Morrissey was the better player on the Trouba pairing while Trouba was still the guy carrying the puck most of the time. |

1. Why do you worry so much about Scheifele's minutes? Lot of star players play big minutes. If they didn't play big minutes fans would be asking "why not?"
2. Barring injury, no - don't be silly! Again worrying about minutes. Score dictates who plays, and who doesn't play, in a lot of cases
3. High scoring game 6-4! Jets got to stay out of the box!

The last two years, Scheifele's play deteriorated as the season went on. I believe its due to him being overplayed. Though he is an elite athlete, he is human and I don't think its healthy for his body to take that much punishment, especially if he's being asked to play both shutdown and offensive roles.
Statistically Ehlers is our best forward. Lowry is our worst. For some reason this point gets lost on coaching and they overplay Lowry and Ehlers is criminally underplayed. |

For Scheifele? It very well can be. Always in the high traffic areas, and usually having to help out below the goal line. He has more work to do than anyone else on the powerplay, and he’s on both units |

This is a good post!
Scheifele takes a beating every game. This is the reason why we need center depth. At the rate that Scheifele played, he's more likely to see a decline his overall play sooner than he really should.
And Scheif if you are reading this, I care about you man!

Scheifele is in the prime of his life. I'm pretty sure he would like more minutes if anything. Certainly won't be complaining about too many minutes.
When I watched the Leafs game the other night, the announcers were saying Matthews was over 24 minutes, and this was with time remaining in the 3rd period.
It is not an oddity to ride your best horses. Score dictates who plays how many minutes. Need a goal? Scheifele will play lots of minutes. |

In this case we will have a difference of opinion and that is okay.
Being an athlete myself, I know that if I tried to play at pique levels all the time, I would constantly be exhausted and that was case even in my prime. Then again I did not have a chef, daily physio and massage.
Hockey is a hard game and is the most violent one out of the major four. So what Mathews played one game at that time. Scheifele does it every game.
Its clear that you and I see things differently. I am not going to convince you and you not me.

I literally laughed out loud at this.
A dman should be carrying the puck out and passing it off to the forwards, ultimately a dmans job is playing defense, as for chipping it off the glass well if you're angled off or the forwards aren't in position then that is likely the safest play.
