Why does everyone have to be so negative about Logan Stanley?
I see Zdeno Chara v. 2.0. Written all over this kid! I would much rather lose Demelo or Pionk in the expansion draft than the future..... - TheUltimateJet
I'm not being negative at all. I'm just saying that this is a dangerous year for the Jets for Stanley to come into his own. Ultimate, weren't you the one that did the guest spot about who the Kraken might pick. What was your call ?

I love Maurice’s explanation for why Heinola isn’t playing. Apparently, it’s because he hasn’t practiced with the team enough.
Even though he was playing actual games like 2 weeks ago, and has been playing pro hockey since October.
Which is also hilarious, because it was Maurice’s choice not to have him on the taxi squad (or the main roster) as soon as his quarantine was over that resulted in Heinola not practicing in the first f*cking place. |

Do you want Heinola or do you want Niku ? You cannot have both.

Chara was already a sophomore playing top pairing minutes at 22.
Pionk is a 4/5 defenceman, and DeMelo is a 2/3. They are both vastly ahead of Stanley, and Stanley is roughly a year and a half from his peak. - Rexypoo
Chara was 22 years old in 1999. He played for the Islanders and was known as a goon. He was a throw in during the Yashin trade.
Chara’s stats at 22 were:
65gp; 2g; 7a; 9 points. He was also a -27 that year!
Stanley will have bad games this year and I am ready to go through the growing pains of the big man! We got ourselves a gem here.
Just like Chara, once he got into a better system and coach he flourished. The only thing that will wreck Stanley’s career is Huddy and Maurice. |

I did suggest that Kraken take him, because I believe in Stanley. I think he’s going to surprise lots of people not only here but in the entire NHL.
He will go down as the best draft pick that Chevy ever made.
I am genuinely serious when I say this. |

Better than Connor Hellebuyck ?

Simple answer: yes. Goalies are voodoo!

1) Was pleased with Stanley's debut, but it's a one game sample.
2) Beaulieu has not looked good. Possibly trying to do too much.
3) Not at all impressed with Niku. Would much rather see Heinola or Samberg get a shot.
4) Waiting for Appleton to show me something.
5) Would rather see Harkins develop than watch Perreault
6) Wheeler needs to give us much more, Scheifele feeds off of that.
7) Some bad passes and tough bounces on the power play
8) Forbort has been a nice surprise.
9) Memo to Roslovic - in this game, a player is often an injury away from getting a big break. You may have missed one. - bennythehat

I agree with all the above. I wish Appleton would show something other than skating fast. He had talent at the AHL so something should show occasionally.
I cannot stand how the TV media personalities get one train of thought in their mind and nothing else. So boring to listen to the same thing all game. Elliott repeatedly saying the Jets missed Laine as he is a play driver. I disagree I do not see Laine as such. I thought a factor last night was the Jets were only playing their second game of the season in four nights while Toronto was more game ready playing their fourth game with breaks in between.
I thought Schiefele was the only scoring threat last night or the only offensive player that handled the puck for any length of time. I do find him weak defensively though. I have no confidence in a goal coming from lines 3 or 4. |

Vezina winner Hellebucyk was drafted 5th round. Kyle Connor and Ville Heinola also drafted around the same spot as Stanley in the first round. |

A positive thought into tonight's game....
A good night for Kyle Connor tonight could put him in the NHL scoring lead !

None of those players received the same scrutiny that “Stan the Man” did! Look at all the negativity around him being picked in the first place. |

The first shift for Niku was an absolute tire fire. What the hell is this kid doing? How many mistakes can one make in a single shift ?
OMFG !!! |

Heinola. But a reasonable team would have both, and Samberg in |

Am I the only one thinking that we also need to upgrade our backup goalie position?

Goalies are only voodoo for people who don’t understand how tight checking, hard-working, mean and otherwise imperfect players get the job done. |

Okay, yeah, maybe scratch Niku for a few games. I’m not giving up on him, but he needs to settle down |

If wasn't already bad enough at the beginning of the game, here is the update the Sami Niku scorecard for tonight
-on the ice for Ottawa's second goal at even strength.
- Really dumb penalty for hooking/holding in the second
- Another dumb penalty for dumping the puck over the glass....OTTAWA goal on ensuing PP.
You can now see the steam rising from Maurice's head. It's now inevitable that the minute DeMelo is back and Sanberg and Heinola are ready... its bye bye Sami. There is still a period to go but this will likely be the second loss that can be directly attributed to Sami Niku......IMHO |

When Rexy admits that his hero Sami Niku needs to be scratched then you know it's really bad !

Time to sit Niku and put Nogier in for the next game. |

This is going to be the third straight game that the Jets will have been outshot and outchanced by inferior competition. It’s time for a coaching change, I have seen enough of Maurice!
