Murray for a 5th is the worst offender. We could’ve offered a 4th, and had a top tier shutdown dman - Rexypoo
Yeah that one really irritates me, I know Murray is injury prone but he's really good!
I see the Sens have a couple decent dmen in J.Brown and Reilly who were acquired for a 4th and a 5th, really don't get why Chevy is never in on these minor trades. |

Nice comeback for the win. The solution was simple. Bench Niku for the final 11 minutes ( except for maybe a 15-second shift) and suddenly the Jets can play their game.

What a steal tonight. Sens deserved the win tonight.
Watching the game, I think the Jets should stop looking for a solid left defenseman and start looking for a right. Niku nearly cost us the game and Beaulieu is not very good on his offside. Poolman is a UFA and Pionk can't defend in his own zone. |

One thing this game solidified for me is that Stanley has clearly surpassed Samberg and Heinola on the left side. I wrote wrong in the Seattle blog.
That Logan Stanley definitely has the eye of the tiger! |

I was hoping to see the kid Eric Bannstrom play tonight. I think it was a Covid related thing but maybe we will see him before this mini-series is over.

Scheifele only played 22:50 tonight! That number really needs to go down to 20:00 max. He’s going to get burned out! |

It's a good thing when the fans are sometimes wrong. Since Chevy drafted Stanley, people have been calling him a bust. He looks great out there. |

If Stanly is to be successful at all, it would be in a sheltered third pair role. Heinola absolutely is top 4!! And Samberg may be as well. |

I think the Jets PP is really hurt by the lack of a quarterback at the point. Jets had a great 1-2 punch on the first & second units with Buff and then Myers. However, since these guys have left it just hasn't been the same and defending teams can cheat a little bit more down low. Heinola in particular can be that guy. Like Heiskenan and Makar, Heinola also has the ability to create a lot of movement which can really open things up. I can't wait for the day !

Heinola and Stanley have different games. Same with Niku and Samberg.
I don’t get all the Niku hate. He’s probably nervous playing for Maurice as he knows if he makes a mistake he could easily be gone. I don’t think Maurice has given him enough confidence. I believe in Niku still. Just needs to learn to relax a bit out there and he will be fine. I think he may need to spend some time with Stan the Man!
Don’t worry Niku if you are reading this, I will not let this board turn you into the next Johnny Oduja! |

I loved Tyler Myers. My #57 jersey hangs in the closet now. Hopefully with Chevy liking retreads, Myers becomes one of them. Would love to wear that jersey to a game again one day and cheer for big #57!

This has to be a troll job. Samberg is very easily a top 4 NHL defenceman right now, and Heinola might already be top pairing quality. |

Are we really throwing shade at Johnny Oduya? He was good for a long time before he left Chicago and got old. |

Maurice has given Niku more chance than he probably derserves. My summary of Sami is as follows:
Strengths : On offence he is somewhat gifted. He has good mobility as well as very good vision and can make those quick passes and quick decisions. Not a really good slapshot but has a pretty accurate wrister. Also has a decent transition game once he has the puck and some time.
Weaknesses: On his own side of the blueline he is literally a nightmare. He get bodied of the puck a lot, he doesn't hit, and because of his smaller stature he tends to do a lot of clutching a grabbing in order to defend . The latter results in a lot of penalties of which in 2021 season have been quite costly to the Jets. He is positionally weak and tends to make poor decisions which end up multiplying into others on the team being out of their own position in order to cover for him. He also tends to panic when in trouble which also multiplies the problem. Also goes down a lot more than he should.
At the end of day, while there is some promise in Sami's game, he just doesn't seem to be big and strong enough to be the NHL defenseman the Jets need him to be.His poor defense and stupid penalties just don't make up for his prowess up the ice. There is still some rays of hope in his game but I think his days are numbered on the Jets and he will have to prove himself elsewhere. He might be worth a 4th or 5th at best in a trade unless Chevy keeps him around and prays Seatlle takes him. |

I hope you are right, but maybe they both should play a game before you annoint them as studs ?
Yes I know Heinola played 8 games 15-16 months ago.
Heinola, Samberg, Stanley, and my mother can all play better defence than Niku.

UJ you worry more about minutes per game than a mother hen does about her chickens.
22:50-20:00 minutes - that's about one shift a period. Scheifele is not old. He can handle an extra shift a period. Lots of minutes on power play, where most time less energy is spent in opposition end.
Enjoy the games! |

He’s averaging 2 more minutes than the next highest played forward in the entire NHL.
Here is hoping he does not get injured as a result!

Very impressive game for Stanley last night, as you infer. He is growing on me by leaps and bounds.
He provided the Jets with some much needed toughness and physicality. Oh I know it's early, and it's only third pairing, but Stanley should be a keeper in this line-up going forward, unless he proves otherwise.
The Jets needed a guy like this!

Yea he could get injured but so can a guy playing six minutes a game. Scheif is not brittle but he has been out before.
Bu then again, you get guys with hangnails (can think of one) and they won't play unless they're 100% - don't want it to affect their next contract. |
