I agreed but think that was by design (by the pens). When Jake and JVR are out there Crosby’s line jumped over the boards. When we play in Pittsburgh, this will be a bigger problem. - leon neon
Flyers have last change at home. It's by design by the Flyers.
I could have said, if you behave like a weasel, you might just be called one.
Jake could have simply said why don’t you come talk to me afterwards, next question. However, he is Jake. If he gets a $ fine so be it, but suggesting any thing more is downright stupid IMO. - NC Flyers Fan
No you wouldn't. You would be used to have your "press-face" on to begin with.
I have to say, I did not like what Jake did there. Having bad press is part of the job. Take the guy aside and sort it out privately. Its bad enough being a sports journalist and having 1 million lunatics think they know better than you. The guys journalists cover make 100 times more than they do. No need to show the latter up in public especially given that they cannot afford to retaliate. - PT21
This is pure bullpoop. The so called journalist wrote something that was not necessary for the story. He also did not know the reason why Voracek was chuckling. It was bad journalism and he deserved what he got from Voracek. The writer was unprofessional. Journalists don't get a pass. You reap what you sow.

I also don’t think that it was just one incident. Seems like this guy bashes Jake whenever he gets the chance. I have no problem with it.

I can't believe I agree with this guy.
But yeah. He was in a rush. And might have added to any existing Jake/AV issues, unnecessarily.
Fair enough Bill. But take it up in person. Or Twitter. Dont humiliate the guy in public, and create a video that will last forever, especially since he cant swing back. And you are a 8 million + player who has done squat in the playoffs in almost a decade now. - PT21
The idiotic comments that continue to come from your posting are really mind boggling. He can't swing back! LOL. He took the first swing! Voracek's playoff performance has zero to do with anything in this situation.
Nice. None of this addresses my point. - DrMidnite
Well, non-existent points are difficult to refute.
If I have a student who has cheated, or repeatedly turned in assignments late, or keeps coming in late and disturbing the class, I have many instruments at my disposal. I have a right to be upset.
What I shouldn't do, and indeed cannot do, is humiliate the student in public using vituperation. That's just terribly unprofessional.
He made a professional error. At best. And I most certainly would want to hear Sielski's side of things. Does he have a history of this sort of thing?
There are avenues to address professional errors. Behaving like a piece of low life trash is not one of them. You dont go to the kitchen and start berating tbe chef if your steak is not rare enough. - PT21
You seem to lack the understanding that it was the Sielski who acted like a piece of low life trash with what he wrote.
Your analogy of the chef is asinine.

Egregious and inappropriate analogy.
Where is the PUBLIC INTEREST in the relationship between you and your student?

Using hyperbole here, but this is the sort of thing that people used to say when there was rape. "Boys will be boys."
I hope Gary is Gary, and gives him a good hard fine.
Where is the PUBLIC INTEREST in the relationship in the relationship between you and your student?
Spoiler alert, it doesn't exist.
However, the topic at hand? Most definitely is. - DrMidnite
The public interest is utterly, completely, and absolutely irrelevant to the issue. The issue is the unprofessional redress of a professional error.
But if you wish, I can sharpen the analogy. Lets say the person in question is one of the mid-career executive classes I used to teach. Many of the guys would be top-shots in non-profits and so on. In that case, there is a public interest in their learning because their lack of learning has repercussions for their future performance.

What an awful and irrelevant analogy. You seem to not understand that the writer humiliated the player publicly.

Using vulgar language in a public press conference is not the way to go. Irrespective of scale of offense, repetition of offense, degree of offense, motivation of offense, or personality of guy committing the offense.
If he has written misleading or inaccurate articles, take it up via the Flyers and complain to the Inky. Set out a press release critical of Sielski. There must be other avenues.
I was shocked at the language used. What a moron.
I understand I am a minority here, but thats ok. I personaly just hope Bettman makes an example out of the guy.

I hope when and if Voracek gets fined that he laughs it off and comes to the realization that the fine is well worth it.
Who is going to police the writer? Did his editor dock his pay? Did the PHWA discipline him? It seems as though you have no issue with a writer publicly humiliating the player.
That is completely inappropriate and in error on your part to make this inference. Rape is never acceptable.
I won’t be responding to you further on the topic of the press conference incident. Your take is incorrect and your arguments are low and pitiful. - NC Flyers Fan
PT21 has exposed himself over and over for who and what he really is.

Look at the second word of the post of mine you quoted. Do you understand what hyperbole means?
I suggest you use the time available for your non-response to attain some appreciation of nuance.

You were shocked at the language used! LOL. Trying leaving your protective bubble for a bit.
Handle it man to man. Give back what you get. Love what Voracek did. Tired of scumbag journalists who he behind a fake immunity and think they can say whatever they want about anyone without knowing the facts.

It's not about humiliating, if it comes from factual/performance-based events, it's one thing.
This was an opinion based statement. Prove it was true, Mike, or admit it was inappropriate. - DrMidnite
Take into account the context here. A writer covering a sport is entitled to write that a player played poorly. Or made a mistake. That's fair game. What he wrote is not without direct evidence.
