I'm sure most of you guys heard but just in case some of you didn't, McCann fined $10,000, no suspension.

Quite easy to imagine for me. Super realistic this year haha... In saying that I by no means have wrote them off at all, I'm actually feeling better about them now than I did last week haha, just think it's a nuts random condensed season with short training camps and covid going around, random things will happen and the division is tough as F. Lots of things could derail the Pens this season.

If it makes you feel better, they got so many years for Zucker that they'll be able to trade him and recoup some assets in a year or two if they choose to.

The confounding thing about that is that Hornqvist was a big part of that winning formula despite his lack of speed, but they did nothing to replace him. Yeah, Hart played great, but that's easier to do when you have a clear view of every shot.
- Tojo.

I've tried to remain a Rutherford fan, but I think it's another perfect example of him mis-reading the failure in the playoffs for the 3rd season in a row. Hornqvist wasn't a problem. How he was being used was the problem.

This is exactly it! I’m tired of watching the organization follow Rutherfords lead blindly. He’s been more wrong than right and I thought the Hornqvist move was bad and if anything they should’ve had him work with Laff or O’Connor to be the next generation of net front guys. The team lost in the playoffs the last few years due to a lack of net front presence and clearing the net front...neither were addressed and to the contrary both were mad worse.

I'd argue they're as poorly coached as they are mismanaged. I think Sully has lost it too.

Perimeter team that can’t defend inside the dots. Every defender we have can skate but what does it matter when you can’t get the puck. Bruce Boudreau said it so well about a 100 times....the Pens need to cleanup in front of their own net and get to the oppositions net. Our system has to go which means we need a coaching change .
- Malkin

Bruce Boudreau is still a free agent.

Apparently TSN reported the Pens are after Roslovic. I think it was Friedman.

He could maybe spark them.

If nothing else, his reactions are priceless.

It’s being widely réported now but hes been requesting a trade to a team that will play him in the top 6. Also the request by Winnipeg was a top 4 left dman. Maybe they take mm and sceviour haha

As long as JR has a 1st round pick to get rid off, you can trust he'll screw it up!

It’s not a high leverage situation for Winnipeg. Could be better than losing him for nothing.. or maybe not lol

If you call Pettersson top 4.... why not make the call? Id rather take our shot with a younger guy like POJ. I know its only two games and he hasnt been awful, but Im not waiting around for Matheson to show us anything. Id much rather put POJ in the lineup and see what he can do.

That is one of the reasons I wanted them to give up last year's pick. I think this team is going to take a step back, probably this year... but beyond that, I was worried what would happen with COVID... if they didnt play, would there be a 32 (guessing Seattle is involved this upcoming draft) team lottery like Crosby's draft lottery... or something like this, a crazy and shortened season where the Penguins could easily miss the playoffs.

This division is a nightmare... 2 or 3 strong teams will miss the playoffs in this division and that could easily be us. I dont think Kapanen was worth taking a gamble on like this. If this pick is top 10 even, that could easily set this organization back for no reason. Bad gamble IMO.

Oh it does, I like Zucker. He's much more of a gaurentee in a closing window than the 1st they'll cough up and he will net some assets when traded.

As far as I know the Jets don't have any cap space... So taking back 4 or 5 million dollar LDs in a trade probably not happening... Unless they send back that salary... And Roso signs for minimum.

With petts gone mm would be permanently on the 2nd pairing which after 2 games seems like a big problem.

As someone else mentioned though if Winnipeg is against the cap I guess they won’t be taking on a top 4 D unless they are also sending a few million in cap space back

Sully wants his teams to be on auto pilot. He didn’t even try to win last game. Any other coach in the league would have put Crosby-malkin together. Or at least give the Crosby a shift with Tanev, who had been our best most consistent forward through 2 games.

Since there’s no way Blue gets to play with Sid I’d go with Sceviour. He protected the puck well down low last game and it would probably forced Crosby and a Guentzel to look for each other rather than Rod. Might actually force them to cycle more. Plus Sceviour has no delusions of grandeur there where I think Rod actually thinks he can stay there.

This must be what is holding up Ruth's trade. We finally hear of who his mystery target is.

POJ? I know he's not top 4 yet, but good luck finding a top 4 D without taking on salary.

I agree, Matheson on 2nd pairing would be a disaster.

Also, even this year I would be inclined to trade Dumo before Petts. Sounds crazy, I know. I think the Pens are inching closer to the eventual rebuild and I'll take the guy who is 5 years younger with room to improve.

Who knows, if Sully had played Riikola instead of dumpster fire last year, he might be second pairing caliber by now.

I don’t know much about Roslovic. A quick glance at his stats and there’s nothing that impressive to me. Can anyone give me the skinny on him? Why is he worth a top four dman?

Yea I looked too, and also know nothing of him. Was wondering the same.
