Yup! 3 of 4 points on the road to start the season, I'll definitely take it... a nice bonus that the offense looks really good, 9 goals in those 2 games!
- obie

last year, if the Danault line had an off night, we were dead. not this year. much more depth. and with that dcore and Carey... good things will happen.
oh, and Anderson!

Fatal flaw of fantasy hockey in a weekly matchup system compared to football is the number of games per player per week, especially with goalie stats. But it's fantasy so there's no perfect system

Yeah... never been a fan of pools, so I'm just figuring sh!t out, makes a little more sense now that I got some assistance!

Actually, they absolutely CAN fit Dubois under the cap during the season if they're determined to. If it got them a prize line PLD, MB wouldn't hesitate to jettison any or all of Byron, Lehky, Armia, Kulak, and perhaps others in order to create the space.

I've actually been in Columbus this weekend working on a different news story but caught up with some people with knowledge of the situation. If you're interested, here's what I found out: http://wix.to/LcCEDJA?ref=2_cl

- habtastic62

Except Columbus doesnt want 6 players we find expendable they want someone to replace their first line centre. Trade one of our for Dubois and then Danault walks this summer and where are we? Worst off than we were at the start of the year and Dubois will be an rfa after next season and command a very big contract. He’ll be more expensive than KK because of his track record so far...of course the goal is always to get better but there’s a need to do that while fitting under the cap, hence why younger talented guys are such great assets.

I'm looking forward to see how Allen looks. Have to think he starts at least one of the games against Van

Lots of depth, really well rounded I think!

Does Allen get the next start?

You’re right at some point. Of course CLB won’t grab 6 players but I believe a KK/Byron+prospects picks could make it, or not.
As for Danault anything behind 5 millions could be good, like I said Armia/Lehkonen/Weal are goners, that’s 6.5millions, maybe even Tatar which you could sign at the same price or under. With the COVID players will sign eventually sign better contracts, see Toffoli and Hoffman who signed lower contracts.
Some kids are also coming replacing guys like Lehkonen and Armia that won’t be “that” damaging.

I know kids are coming to replace expendable wingers but what i’m saying is we need to keep a strong centre line and thats easier to do with the young guys than with adding Dubois in the mix. You keep talented centres that are less expensive and you can afford talented wingers to complete them. That’s what we’re finally seeing this year and I want to see what this core can do before trying to fix something that hasn't been this good since I can’t remember how many years. I mean, it’s a short sample but holy cow these two games have been fun to watch! Maybe i’ll change my mind this summer if this team fails to meet expectations but for now, i’m very happy with the way things are.

Toffoli - PLD - Caufield (11M)
Drouin - Suzuki - Anderson (12M)
Tatar - Danault - Gallagher (17M)
Poehling - Evans - ? (3M)
that's 43M for the forwards. add 24M for the dcore and 14M for the goalies. total 81M

is this really a better team?
and lets hope Seattle pick Edmundson!

I was thinking about this last night and I think everything hinges on Kotkaniemi's development this year. Suzuki is looking like at worst a quality 2nd line C and potentially a long term 1st line C. Whether Kotkaniemi develops into a top 6 C informs decisions on PLD, Danault and Poehling more so than anything I think.

If Kotkaniemi doesn't develop do you trade for PLD if he's still something you can get? Do you pay Danault what he wants to stick around?

If he does develop is he enough to be the main piece to get PLD in a trade? Does that mean Danault can walk if he won't sign for 2/3 C money with favourable term? Does that mean Poehling becomes their targeted 3 C moving forward?

Everything hinges on Kotkaniemi proving he's a top 6 C or not this year

the more I think about it, the more I think MB will stay the course and keep his 2 young centers.

I do too. But on a pessimistic look, what if Danault ends up the long term 2 C and Kotkaniemi the 3 C?

Well it’s a solid lineup imo. 3 lines that can makes huge damage. PLD is a way better center man then KK which has good flashes but I don’t see him as strong as PLD/Suzuki. He looks more likely a Gritty Centerman with a good shot then a strong IQ like Suzuki that makes good passes and intelligent moves. PLD is like Suzuki, he’s skilled and intelligent, he does good moves and quite strike at Net like Anderson.

There’s always a Kulak/Edmundson or whoever that could leave for cap space. Also Allen $ will be reduce next year if not picked by Seattle.

I don't give a poop who's 1st 2nd or 3rd. they more or less all have the same TOI at 5x5

Totally, I think we are on the good way. Hopefully COVID/Injuries doesn’t happen but it’s uncertainly. It won’t be pleasures games to battle against Ottawa four games in a row, they’re gritty and hits A LOT.

Yes, they made good moves. But still won’t win over their old lineup. Spezza, Alfredsson, Heatley. Was an insane 1st line, adding Fischer, Vermette, Redden, Philips and the beginning of Karlsson and f*cking Ray Emery has their goalie lol

Totally but Redden at that time had more experiences, 40pts+ for four seasons in a row, he was pretty good and then it all fell down afterward lol
