Benning should put a package together for PLD and Boone 'frickin' Jenner from Columbus. Send them Horvat and Boeser

It was like game 4 of 3 years ago I wanted Green fired. I really think Benning is seeing how this season is going with "Green's team" and if it doesn't go well, they will have a new staff next season.

As I said I am not saying you wanted him fired. I am saying media , social media ,and Hockey Buzz are calling for Green's firing.

According to Daniel Wagner in Aug 2020
"His Calder-winning rookie season should have erased those doubts, but even now there are those that question whether Pettersson, now listed at 176 lbs, can adapt to the punishing physicality of the NHL playoffs."

Petey said he was 176 when asked this year as well.

It was reported him and Rafferty both gained weight. That is why there was controversy at the first Zoom scrum where Petey and Jake both got defensive and Jake came to Petey rescue with the line yeah lets drop it. Next question.
- VANTEL

Zoom call Petey says he's 176 so same weight and that every off season he's tries to get stronger.

It's not unique to the Canucks, whenever a team, any team, underachieves, everyone, including fans and media, question the coaching.

I thought the Van media was calling for his extension. Unless that's changed already.

Maybe? I don't know. I know I am that's for sure. I guess 3 months without a gym and without work will do that. Up 1.6 lbs.

This team IMO needs an experienced coaching staff, something they're sorely lacking.

I know my opinion last year was the team has passed Green's skills but then he had a good playoff run so it went to wait and see what happens this year.

I see Gallants name there but it doesn't cost anything to wait and see what happens later in the year. What coaches are available at the end of march may have more of a variety than now if Green continues.

How many other organizations have gone with a younger coach that grows with the team over the years and it's completely failed.

New coaches are needed every year but it's probably time for Green to go and learn as an Asst under someone else for a few years.

Love it....IMO he hasn't been given a fair shake in the NHL with both the teams he's coached so far. They need a gruff defensively astute guy back there who won't take any poop from the guys and he's not their buddy.

He better be careful, playing the same 6 team all year players don’t forget.

Yes Pettersson will remember that monahan cross-checked him multiple times before he slashed back...

I'll go look...

1) PP
2) Penalty kill
3) Porous team defence
4) Elias Pettersson’s slow start
5) The Gaudette line needs to take the next step defensively, earn more trust

The #Flames controlled the puck for over 80 percent of the period in all situations (83.4), and 78 percent at 5v5.

That's compared to only 33 percent puck possession at 5v5 in the first period.

Big swing of momentum in the second, and a very dominant period for CGY.

From the article....one reason.

-----------------------------------------------------

Porous team defence is rearing its ugly head.

The 2019-20 Canucks were one of the most porous defensive teams in the league. They were bottom-five in conceding shots, scoring chances and expected goals against.

In the offseason, we pointed that the team as a whole looked more permissive defensively despite the top-four looking better than last year.

An already leaky squad lost Chris Tanev, its best in-zone defender. Losing Troy Stecher was a subtle blow in this respect too — no Canuck defender was on the ice for a lower rate of 5-on-5 goals against in the last three years than him.

Nate Schmidt’s unquestionably an upgrade on Tanev but that’s in terms of overall value, not on the defensive front. Travis Hamonic, meanwhile, was brought in to add some defensive stability at 5-on-5 and the penalty kill but he’s fighting through the rust of missing training camp and not having played in 10 months before the season opener. Up front, the Canucks lost a quality two-way driver in Josh Leivo.

Four games in, the club’s feeling the ramifications of icing a roster that lacks in defensive quality. Vancouver’s allowed 16 goals through four games and the underlying numbers prove that it’s not just unfortunate bounces. Natural Stattrick has the Canucks dead-last among teams in allowing four expected goals against per game and it’s not particularly close.

Good for Petey for not taking abuse but it is always the same story with Canucks. Even last night Tkachuk was going down and faking it more than a porn star . Of course we take the penalty and they score and win. My problem is not with Tkachuk but why are the Canucks not doing this first? We are always the victims .

Not saying he shouldn’t defend himself, was needed but still 8 games left against the Flames it might have been better if someone else had come to his aid. He opened himself up to a bigger target.
