Hughes has looked really good in the games I have watched this year. Best player on the ice good.
- tbreinold

Definitely improved over last year from the small sample I've seen. Heard he put on 14 lbs of muscle, that's going to help.

Yeah, was just going to say that, while I haven't seen him play yet, people are saying he looks like a different player so far this year. 15lbs heavier, too.
K'Andre will introduce himself tonight!!

Last year, in 70 games PLD had 18 goals and 31 assists for 49 points.
Last year, in 70 games, Ryan Strome had 18 goals and 41 assists for 59 points.

So, so, we are giving up 5 first round picks for PLD. And, if the team misses the playoffs and gets a lottery ball and lucks out like they have done the past 2 years that goes to Columbus?

I like PLD. We are thin in prospects at forward. We have built a healthy stable of good young prospects. We will have an extra $15 million in cap space to sign a fee agent center, if needed, come this July with no cost in players or top picks.

I think the rush to judgement to bring in PLD at a cost like this is premature and short sighted.

- Downeaster

Strome has also been in the league for 8 seasons and only has two 50 point seasons, and zero 20 goal season yet. Last year he played with Panarin, a top 5 player in the league.

PLD is only 22 lol

Who do you think was Panarin’s center his last year in Columbus?

So you spend 5 first round picks to bring him here, using up almost all the remaining cap space? And.....the team would have to jettison another $2.5 million to even out the transaction cap-wise. There was no reason given why he wants out of Columbus. Think he might not like it in New York and want out of here?

You would also have Mika and Pierre both in contract years next season looking for big bucks. And, if Pierre decides to walk, 5 1st round draft choices for 2 years would be a tad steep.

For that price, too many what if scenarios for me.

I just don't get where you are getting the 5 first round picks from? He is def worth one or two. No team is trading 5 first round picks for any player in a trade.

Finally have a solid 1st instead of a player like Hughes. Kinda glad we picked second that draft.

assuming he's including 1st round players in that.. ie chytil, kravs, lundkvist plus 2 firsts, etc

Maybe he can remind us who has more goals this year, Kappo or Jackie?

Looks like the NHL story boarders are trying to make a rivalry out of Laf and Hughes, attempting to introduce tonight as their "1st NHL Duel". I don't know about you, but I know I just $hit myself with anticipation.
They truly are hanging on the edge looking for a story.

Well the rangers entire lineup is pretty much first round picks lol. It was always going to take about 4 pieces to get him. I still don’t think it’s crazy and I still think he is a huge upgrade over strome, both now and the future

I like PLD, but I like Barkov even more. However Im not gonna be picky here about getting a bonafide stud center.

I look at a potential PLD trade as Kakko and a buffer, call it a top 5 protected 1st round pick. Its the price of getting a potential franchise center.

At minimum Strome has to go to balance out the cap.

As far as the salary cap, this is a position we unfortunately have stuck ourselves in. However, I think it should work out.
