Actually, reading Oiler fan post game threads 4K is currently their best D. Doesn't have much competition though. |

How soon before McDavid asks to be traded?

Taking on bad contracts: with dramatically reduced revenues this year (hopefully, not next year) - I would question Rocky’s approval for spending the real cash money required. - StLBravesFan
I thought about that angle, if Rocky would agree to put the money into buyouts. Hard sell, but that’s something Bowman will have to do if he’s thinking this way. But for a quicker rebuild the Hawks will need some out of the box, creative and aggressive thinking. |

I was thinking that the other day. He can’t be happy. |

Not reflected on Capfriendly yet, but there's this:
The Blackhawks appear to have moved Kevin Lankinen & Brandon Hagel from the taxi squad to the active roster and Lucas Carlsson & Wyatt Kalynuk from the active roster to the taxi squad. Not sure if Lankinen or Hagel will be in tonight. Colliton is talking later this afternoon. - Chunk
Bowman and or Colliton might not easily explain away some issues as the season moves along.
How long do we keep seeing Keith playing atrocious. Will he get a pass? And is he going to get better?
There is no reason for Carlsson and Beaudin to not get a look. They have progressed in their development.
Boqvist: do not be afraid to send him to AHL. If not possible, press box. He cannot play this way and expect to overcome his ways. And, is skating an issue due to bulking up with weights? |

Just visited the Commited Indians site. They have an article posted about today being the 30 year anniversary of the 1991 All Star game at the old barn. Some videos included there. Surprised the place didn't burn down during the anthem. |

Keith may be playing “atrocious” but he’s the best defenseman the hawks have. And you want to know who is the most critical of Keith’s play? It’s Keith.
There is a reason Carlson and Beaudin aren’t getting a look. The reason is Bowman and or Colliton don’t think they’re ready.

Agreed it's not like we can take on every bad contract there's a limit and they will be there next year as well. |

Yes you give Keith a pass. No matter how atrocious, he still is our best defenseman, and he is supposed to be mentoring. You do not treat him like a young rookie.
Maybe Carlsson and Beaudin should get a look. But to me, the only one to come out of the line-up is Bovquist.
One thing I have noticed so far that is an improvement over last year, is that the Hawks are not getting as buried in their own zone as much as last year. They are giving up 5 goals a game, but the actual zone time does not appear as skewed as at times last year.
That being said, you need your goalies to make a save. I also think the high danger chances (without looking at stats), have been less against than last year.

I had predicted Lankinen in on Friday but maybe he plays today. I wonder what his hockey nickname is? Lanks? Lanker? The Lankster? Lankie? |

He's been an assistant with a few clubs over the years. GP says he still is. - 6628
He was a scout with the Ducks for a while too. Probably had a say in them drafting all the good dmen they have. |

without out taking on some bad contracts we are not getting better and the The UC would be a ghost town next year if we are just as bad as this year. being bad is one thing. being bad with carpenter wallmark, shaw, janmark, kampf in the lineup is another. I think we all know that the young guys are going to have bad games but all of the above should not be keeping the younger guys from playing if we can return under 25 assets for them. along with a bad contract back. |

Incorrect. They should be able to trade a few vets without taking on more salary than they trade.
And...they will still be bad next year, but better than this year if Dach and Toews are available. |

Unfortunately you are correct about Keith as the best dman. He helps and hurts his team. Keith as our blueline leader on defense seemingly is to be stuck with this situation akin to stuck between a rock and a hard place.....he is not going anywhere any time soon.
Both Carlsson and Beaudun cannot be worse than Boqvist has been. I love Boqvist future but he needs AHL and probably victim of too much weight work affecting his skill/ability adversely as DeBrincat last season suffered. |

For a number of years, the end of the 2015/16 season I thought the Hawks should have tried to sell high on two or three of the core and begun a rebuild. I was in a huge minority, and I’m not trying to prove I was right as I completely understood why Hawk fans wouldn’t want to see our “heroes” getting cold heartedly tossed out once they were longer useful. Another segment of fans thought the Hawks had one more run. With the cap issues, the lack of prospects and the aging core I didn’t that was possible.
If/when the Hawks become contenders again and knowing what we know now do you pull the trigger more quickly on selling off your core players while they still have value? Keep in mind the situation is the same, cap issues, lack of secondary talent and few real prospects.

I haven’t been impressed with Boqvist so far. He seems timid in certain situations both physically and when he’s got the puck. Are the other two better? I have no idea? Do you take a guy, who the Hawks are counting on in the future, and demote him after three games? Are the coaching staff seeing more than we are? If the hawks were contenders I’d be wanting him out of the lineup too, but I’d think the current situation dictates a different way to handle him. I’ll leave this to the coaching staff and front office. |

Well we can agree that questions are raised. There will be a response to his performance eventually. How to handle this situation.....we shall see....presently it is difficult to know for certain why the bad performance and how this situation will evolve

Lankinen gets the start tonight. Hagel in for Highmore.
I'd rather have both of them on the 4th line but that is sure to happen at some point this season. |

So they throw Delia out for 2 games in a row, then instead of giving Subban a couple games in a row, they go to Lankinen? |
