Looks like we’re likely out on the PLD sweeps. Don’t get me wrong I was down to trade Mony for him and I’m not just saying this cause I’m bummed but I’m not upset we’re not getting him either.

His recent play/attitude aside this guy is going to be looking for big money on his next contract and I’m not quite sure he’s worth it. Sure he’s a solid 1C and he brings a well rounded game but to date he averages around .75 points per game. He may only be 22 but I’m just not sold that he has the offensive upside that’s worth paying 9 million a year.

Same just makes sense to go to jets, flames can't give up a laine caliber player. They could trade monny, doubt they will and I don't think they'd trade gaudreau either

It’s sounds like we were but didn’t make the cut when it came down to 2 or 3 teams. I suspect this is for 1 of 3 reasons:

-Columbus was on monahan’s no trade list

-monahan was too old with not enough term left on his contract for Columbus to be interested in him, plus coming off a down year

-given the second point the blue jackets probably wanted too much in addition to monahan, probably along the lines of Mangiapane/Dube plus a high draft pick.

That 3rd point is likely the case given what the blue jackets did get and I’m happy that we bowed out if so. Dubois does play a better all around game than Mony but statistically he’s not that much better offensively. Think of it like if Dubois is a 1A center we would basically be trading a 1B/at worst a high end 2C, plus another top six forward, plus a 2nd or a 3rd. Feel free to not agree but I think that’s a lot to give up for a marginal improvement

Idk man. JG and SM are turnover machines and are horrible at defending. Part of the problem with that line is they get cave in a lot. Not sure if PLD would have changed that but they need to figure something out.

I agree, I think the difference between PLD and SM is that not only is PLD a better two way player but he provides more energy and is stronger in puck battles. While PLD is absolutely an improvement on monahan for his all around game I think we could partially remedy those exact deficiencies if we slotted Mangiapane on their wing. Or if we like mangi on the tkachuck line, Dube showed in the playoffs last year he can bring those skills as well.

Hey Fry,

Another good app to watch the games is Explorii app, it's on iphone. The cool thing about this app is we can watch games and chat same time. Pretty cool. Also thanks for letting us know about nhl66 site.
