several things wrong here...

If KK was on a one way contract he would have to clear waivers before being sent to the taxi squad. He would obviously get claimed.

He is still waiver exempt and since the taxi squad isn't part of the NHL roster he will not receive his full salary while on the taxi squad. He has a minors salary of $70k.

So the kid gets a lower paycheque just to activate Corey Perry who is worth like 20x more money. I would get disgruntled. I wonder if he's asked for a trade and this is what Ek and his two sources are chasing down? Definitely more to come on this story. Also buys chasing down Mario on this Pittsburgh rumour. Probably won't get an update until sometime tomorrow with all of these calls and texts flying around.

You're right, Ek. Moving KK to the taxi squad isn't to create room for Dubois. I have a source too - the calculator on my phone.

A cap maneuver to obtain Dubois is possible, but it would require much more than rotating the kids on and off the taxi squad.

Also, KK is not on a one-way contract.

One-way/two-way contracts have nothing to do with waivers. The only difference is whether they get paid their full NHL salary while playing in the minors.

Waiver eligibility is determined by how old you were when you signed your ELC, the number of professional seasons you have played, and how many NHL games you've played. That's it.

Found this...this insider listed the best insiders in 5 tier, with tier 5 being people full of crap....

Tier 5: The Jon Snow’s (They Know Nothing)

In this tier: Dean Blundell, “Eklund”, Howard Berger, Jimmy Murphy

I wondered if I should hyperlink to the Twitter accounts for these guys, but if you’re following these accounts I want to give you the quickest route to hitting “unfollow”. The fact that Eklund, considered the biggest grifter in all of Hockey Twitter, has almost 128k followers is an absolute travesty, especially considering that it has been proven time and time again that he has zero connections to the NHL world. “Shock Jock” Dean Blundell and former Postmedia pariah Howard Berger, like Eklund, have weaponized fake news as a way to drive traffic to their websites, and under no circumstances should ever be trusted or have their content shared, even if the goal is to dunk on them. They thrive based on eyes on product, be it positive or negative. Ignore these accounts and they will (hopefully) shrivel.

Oh yeah, I know.
Stumbled upon the article and thought I'd share it.
It's kinda harsh, but like you said, we all know.

Well even if some of the rumours don't come true, I do enjoy his hockey insights. Such as:

-Vegas to miss playoffs
-Caps to miss playoffs
-Columbus to win their division
-Sorokin to win the Calder and Vezina
-Corey Perry a difference maker
-Chara shifting the power vortex

I even put a few $$$ on some of these just for fun. Not looking good so far.

Whether a player is on a one way or two way contract has absolutely nothing to do with his waiver status.

Ok well Ek never claimed to be a capologist. He's just sharing rumours from his network of sources. Who cares about 1-way versus 2-way contracts.

I heard from a source named Ziggy Palffydust that 3 way contracts are being discussed by the NHL and NHLPA. NHL, AHL and doubleheader pay. Also there's rumblings of a second (expansion) team playing in Toronto within the next 5 years and they'll be sharing the same arena as the Leafs.

Matthew Barzal has always dreamed of playing in Toronto and he'll be joining his teammate Connor McDavid. The team will be named the Toronto Offer Sheets with a logo of Darren Dreger as it's emblem. Bright Orange and purple jerseys and 1982 Burgundy Cooperall with green skates and pink helmets. Paul Marner will be GM.

Well that's according to my source Ziggy Palffydust. Ziggy is currently chasing a rumour of the expansion Toronto Offer Sheets signing extra terrestrial beings who once visited ancient civilizations many thousands of years ago. They have apparently found a way to time travel like a young David Poile has. Could this really be true? Ancient Alien NHL trade Rumour theorists say YES!

OK. Well I read Ek's post again. He actually has TWO sources suggesting they are likely creating cap space for a trade. So I'm going to trust TWO sources over your ONE opinion. But agree to disagree. Let's just all wait for Ek to follow up on this as he was busy making more calls. They were after Hoffman for months so it's possible they are looking to acquire him, or perhaps another power forward. Laine, Gaudreau, Nylander, Barzal, JVR + Ghost were all strongly expected to be traded so maybe one of them are involved here.

You seem to stick up for EK all the time. How much is he paying you ?

Again not an opinion.....directly from Marc Bergevin himself.

GM Marc Bergevin has stated "that trading players is often difficult in normal circumstances, but is almost impossible given the quarantine issues between Canadian and American teams. " The GM further added "that it will be "not possible" to start the season with a 23-man roster due to salary cap issues. and plans to bank cap space over the course of the season by sending down waiver exempt players on off days."

So ya, I guess a source is more reliable than a direct quote from the man, before the season started.. By doing this, they will save about $330k which amounts to a $1.4 million salary at the deadline.
